  1. I would also look at silicon gloves that I use for BBQing. lots of Amazon options.
  2. lol, it figures. I have an E3 on my semi. Compatible with E4 or E6?
  3. I tried my semi M-60 with an AAC cyclone, and it did not cycle. Do M-60s play nice with suppressors? Are there any adjustments that will help it work? Sorry for the newby questions and thanks for the advice. I would like to suppress the noise to keep neighbors happy. Regards, Chris
  4. Followup. I took the suppressor off and it ran fine. This is kind of disappointing since it is much more neighborly to shoot a .308 suppressed. I will give her a good scrubbing of the areas you mentioned and try again with the suppressor (AAC Cyclone). Thanks for the feedback. Chris
  5. I bought a AM ARMS/DELTA 7.62mm SA M-60, which as far as I can tell from internet searches is US Ordnance in the early days. Anyway, if it not fully extracting out the fired cartridge cases and jamming. I am using Federal FMJ factory ammo. Any ideas for a DIY fix? I am running a suppressor on it. Would that be an issue? I haven't been to the range w/o the suppresor to see if that would affect it. I would think the suppressor would add back pressure, but don't know w/o testing. Regards, Chris
  6. convinced, am gonna spend the time and reload. I have a lot of the components already, so worth the time for less wear and tear. Thanks
  7. FWIW, Hi-tech ammo is cheaper than old sarge when you factor in shipping. https://hi-techammo.com/search?type=product&q=links I got 2k from them. maybe 2% junk (bent). good deal IMO.
  8. "prices go up really fast from there" is an understatement. Just got a quote from Desert Ordnance for a replacement E6 (will fit my E3) for $1650. Any idea of barrel life? I'm trying to do the math. I reload, but even reloading I am around $0.40 each. Thanks Chris
  9. I picked up a semi M60 from Delta (precursor to US Ordnance). it appears unfired, but I plan on changing that. Wolf is cheaper than I can reload, is it good to go? What kind of barrel life can I expect? Barrels are pricey and tough to find. Any good leads? Taking her out for the first time tomorrow. Will let you know how the Wolf does. Thanks Chris
  10. I'm a TSMG retard, so you'll have to speak slower. What is the grip mount? If it's the front handguard, then it slid out. caspian p.s. the standard M1A1 rear sight (not the Lyman) is included, but i forgot it in the picture.
  11. you may remember me. i came here inquiring about the value of a MG that was in the possession of an old lady whose husband died. Anyway, i laid out the options and the thing she needs most is cash. If it's any consolation, it was an Auto Ordnance, not a super collectable Colt. Well, I gave the MG last rites, said a prayer and subjected her to the chop saw. The ATF has the big chunk of the receiver. The rest is up for sale. I know there are other kits cheaper from Dans, but this is a smooth barrel. Here's the ad: The Thompson set is in excellent condition and includes everything but the receiver. Smooth barrel, one mag, sling, everything you see in the picture. Demilled from an govt. property marked Auto Ordnance MG. $650 delivered and insured CONUS only, all NFA rules apply. http://www.precisionforensictesting.com/images2/thompson.jpg Thanks, Caspian e-mail caspian45REMOVE@sbcglobal.net
  12. QUOTE (caspian @ Feb 10 2006, 02:07 PM) i probably came to the wrong place to mention chopping a TSMG. however, i just talked my buddy and we're aiming for the easy route. i didn't mean that to come off disrespectfully. regards, caspian
  13. being an MG enthusast myself, i hate nothing more than to see a nice gun destroyed. however, i see this turning into a huge pain in the ass. I agreed to help out for no financial gain, but am going to end up spending hours, and hours only to have it gather dust in a PD property room or donated to a museum which probably has 10+ specimans of the same model. i probably came to the wrong place to mention chopping a TSMG. however, i just talked my buddy and we're aiming for the easy route. Thanks for the info. caspian
  14. QUOTE (giantpanda4 @ Feb 10 2006, 12:13 PM) Z3 is right! Donate the entire thing to a Federally funded museum, declare the value (we all know what a real M1 is worth) and write off the donation on your taxes! The savings could be at least $3000 and up..... i'll pass along the options and let her decide. thanks for the input. caspian
  15. QUOTE (Z3BigDaddy @ Feb 10 2006, 11:41 AM) Yikes don't cut it up! They're alternatives I think..... Others know better than me.... the alternatives are: 1) form 10 it to a law enforcment agency or govt. agency. That's not really an option b/c the lady won't get any financial reimbursment. additionally, there is no real purpose for a TSMG when they have MP-5s for their SWAT team. 2) turn it over to a museum. not really an option since this isn't an exotic variation of the TSMG.
