  1. Did you get the FULL AUTO and SINGLE markings engraved? How did they come out?
  2. Thanks for all of the input. I bought the $225 Lyman packed in grease. I’ll post some photos when it arrives as well as some post-clean up photos. I hope to get my thompson this weeks so I can start the Form 1and get it converted over to an SBR and get the other mods done on it to make it a semi M1928 clone. The biggest thing left I need to purchase is a GI stock and horizontally grip with the associated hardware. TC
  3. A Lyman it is then. I was looking at this seller on eBay. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F111974012003 Any issues that jump out with this listing? Again, I appreciate the help. TC
  4. Thanks Bob. I guess if I am adding the other correct features it makes sense to close it out with a proper Lyman sight. I tried to find some good photos of the Kahr sight for comparison, but I could find any that provided any good detail. That’s why I posted here. I appreciate the feedback. I’ll start looking for a good looking Lyman. Is there anything specific I need to look for in an original Lyman 55B? TC
  5. I started a project to convert a new semi Kahr/AO 1927 to a 1928 look alike. I am going to do the SBR paperwork for the short bbl and have a GI mag catch and select fire/bolt stop switch added. I am going to add an original grip mount so it will take GI furniture up front. I will also swap out the Kahr removable stock with and original GI that has the oiler compartment. I have been considering adding an original Lyman sight also. How close are the standard Kahr/AO sights on the new 1927 compared to an original Lyman? Are new sights bad enough to warrant the expense of an original Lyman? Thanks, TC
  6. Is the locking mechanism on the new manufacture AO drums designed for the semi-auto magazine catch only? Will they lock properly with a standard GI magazine catch? Does AO still use their semi-auto offset magazine catch? My last AO semi purchase was in 2002. I am not sure if they changed. I am looking at getting a new AO M1927 SBR and wanted to send it off to PK for the bolt lock/selector switch modification as well as the GI magazine catch so it will work with standard GI magazines. He did amazing work on my AO semi M1. Off the topic of drums, but does anyone know where to get a good Cutts Compensator blank fire adapter? Thanks, TC
  7. I have two XXX (30 Round) Thompson magazines that have been modified for use with the new semi-auto rifles. I have since had my magazine catch modified to accept GI magazines. Does anyone have GI magazines they would like to trade for modified semi-automatic magazines or buy right out? Please respond to: tmclauss@charter.net Thanks, TC
  8. I have a Auto Ordance M1 Semi-auto Thompson. I have the Class II tax stamp from the ATF. I need a 10.5 inch barrel. Where is the best place to get one? The AO ones are $175. Gun Parts Corp has them for $98. Which is the best deal? I heard that the GI barrels don't work very well in the new semi-autos. Also, the stock does not have a oiler hole or a trapdoor in the butt plate. Where is the best place to get one that will fit on the semi-auto stock? Did earlier AO semi-autos have trapdoor butt plates? On that note, where is a good place to get a oiler? Is there anything else I need to do to make my semi-auto appear to be a M1A1? Thanks for any input, TC
