So, to dovetail to the other thread I started - I mentioned that I was looking to swap my 1928 parts kit for an M1A1 kit. I listed it on 1919a1.com, and right away found a gentleman that was interested in a trade. After a couple of e-mails, he stated that he is hesitating because he was told that the M1A1 kits are harder to find and going for a premium, so he wasn't sure is it was a fair trade. So I ask you guys your collective opinion - this is the total of the swap - fair or one-sided? Me: -complete Savage 1928 kit with smooth barrel and horizontal foregrip, "L" sights and Cutts compensator - very good condition. -extras included: new repro finned barrel, repro Lyman sights, repro vertical foregrip w/ screw & mount, extra NOS buttstock slide, 80% blued P.O. receiver (no additional machining or engraving). Him: M1A1 kit - similar condition, shrouded rear sight Extras: extra bolt, alluminum dummy receiver, torch-cut original receiver parts. Even if the M1 kits are slightly higher (not sure), I figured with the extras, it's a pretty even split. What say you?
