  1. I am not a big fan of the M1 carbine sling due to the snap. Of what is in my storage box, I like an Uzi sling, Enfield sling, and Canvas M1 Garands sling. Of those I think I like the garand the best, and it is somewhat historically appropriate. Any other good alternatives people are using?
  2. Stamp came back. Woohoo!!! I don know how I missed it the first time but in addition to the number stamped into the stock, it also has a sticker near the heal marked 27. Rack number I assume. I need to do a FOIA on it, to get some additional history. Happy I say it appears to be military accepted. Barrel marked M 2, and it is peened at the top of the reciever.
  3. I do recall seeing the infamous M50 turned MP40 on "Combat" when they were rerunning them.
  4. Sten parts were so plentiful I would feel confident in saying that a tube gun is all original parts but the reciever. I have a Stemple tube gun in transfer right now. A C&R gun is certainly nicer and will always be worth more than a tube, so it really depends on you. They won't shoot or function differently and the premium you pay for C&R is likely to remain constant regardless of base NFA tube prices. I would buy the tube gun and use the savings for ammo, mags, and parts kits.
  5. Very related same guy. Registered here right after getting my Sten, and uzitalk during my G43 buying spree. Thanks for the pics. I will save these off and await my stamp back. If it is ok with you I may contact you again when I have the gun in hand.
  6. I have some forward and back slack (1/16) with my model 50 stock fit. How and where should I bed it? Thanks
  7. I am in Atlanta GA and would be willing to let you fire my model 50.
  8. Well I must say I do have a good Class 3 dealer. He checked the lug for me and says it solid. So now I am less worried about it. He even sent a pic. http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh101/mustanggt0405/92bcb61e.jpg Now to find a way to pass the time for approval. Already read Frank's book twice. Any other recommended reading?
  9. Not sure of the history of the gun. The stock is marked 214 which has nothing to do with the serial number. So it's either a rack number or a stock off another gun. Stock needs a refinish because someone wrapped something around it with tape so it pulled off the finish in spot.
  10. Thanks for the advice. It is a late military version so I am 90% sure it has 2 peice bumper assembly. But I did buy another set just in case and to have as a spare. The 20rd mag that was jamming was original. Probably needs a new spring as you suggested and I was thinking. Haven't seen any direct replacements so I will look for a suitable replacement. My current concern is the stock to receiver slop, but whatever it was did not affect function.
  11. New to this forum. Seems like the place to be for Reisings. Already might have an issue I brought up in the "loose stock" thread, but I will wait till I can take it apart next time I visit it while in Form 4 jail to post more. Sorry for those who frequent Uzitalk Reising board for cross posting but here are my thoughts and pics from my first range visit with the Reising. Happy to be here and hope to learn and help out others where I can. ...... Well my Reising Model 50 came in last week and I just went to see it and fill out the Form 4. Now I have 6 months to wait and collect parts. Already have $250 worth from Numrich, and Christie mags, springs, and titanium pin. As part of this exercise I was able to fire 100 rounds. After shooting my M11/9 stock 1200 rpm, and Max 11 650 rpm, I was worried it would be "too fast" at 850 rpm. But now I say no. The ROF would be nice 100 rpm lower but it doesn't feel insane like the M11/9. Next thing I thought it would be handful to control, but it's not. Shoots smooth and easy to hold on target. Next I was worried about the bad rep for reliability. Well I found the 20rd mag it came with would jam it up with less than 5 rds left. But the spring felt light when loading. I had another 20 rounder I bought on gunbroker and it ran 100%. Haven't tried the 30 rounders yet. But very happy so far. Stock is pretty beat but I can refinish that easily so not a biggie for me. One issue I will have to figure out is the action is a little loose in the stock even with the takedown bolt tight. So maybe some bedding will be in order. All in all I am very happy with my purchase, but now have to forget I bought it for a while. Here is a bad cell phone pic from the range. http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh101/mustanggt0405/18496cef.jpg
  12. Thanks. I hope that is all it is. Seemed tight in the vertical direction just slop forward and back. I will take a trip to see it again in April and will look at it further. Whatever it was did not affect function. As to heavy use, I doubt it will see more than 2k rounds a year. I have a M11/9 for a bullet hose, and a Sten MkII for high volume. I like the gun semi auto and will likely use that some of the time. Wish the trigger was a little lighter, but I just wanted a US Marshal SMG and don't have Thompson money. Reising should fill that role well. Already got some spares including action bar and 5 firing pins, and new springs. Plan to pick up as many spares as possible when I run across them. When I get some time I will post a nice hello to the forum thread. Just saw this post and got scared about my gun. Not having it readily at hand makes the mind wander and fear the worst.
  13. Any update on this? How was it fixed? I just bought a Reising M50 that is currently sitting at dealer awaiting my F4 to come back. I did test fire the gun and it ran great for the 100 rds I brought. One thing I did notice is that the action had about 1/16 of play forward and back in the stock. Checked the takedown nut and it was tight. I figured the stock was just worn around this area and a little acraglass or something would fix it up. Now I am worried it is something like this. Didnt take it down at all so never took the stock off. If the threads were still good, would blue or red loctite work? Or welding the only option. What else could cause this slop? Thanks.
