Took the barrel out of my semi auto TNW MG34 and then closed the receiver and barrel shroud back without barrel in shroud. Now I cannot open the receiver and shroud anymore. I press on the receiver catch and the two parts will not rotate open. HELP LOL ! Thank you

I got two of Bula's BM59 barrels and so far I have some reservations. I do not know what the true size of the BM59 gas port hole is but I can easily fit a 5/64 drill bit in it. And the splines for the fitting of the gas cylinders may be out of spec. The gas cylinders wobble a bit, but I know the cylinders could be worn out. Also after firing 40 rounds there is a lot of carbon build up behind the splines and gas cylinder pictured here. Perhaps people here more knowledgeable can say if this is normal or not. Thank you

Thank you Ursula I miss my BD38 also. Having the MP38 is great but she do not go bang
-
Also how do you remove the folding stock from the pistol grip ?
-
The resting bar is normally aluminum. Test it with a magnet to confirm.
When did you get the MP38?
Hi Ursula I just got it this week an old style deactivation cock and click. Numbers do not match though but otherwise in great shape. Thank you for the tip will try a magnet. And thank you Ron. Regards. Rob

Typically right to left on most guns. I prefer to use roll pin punches made by Grace as the help to prevent messing up roll pins.
Ron
Thank you, I am removing the resting bar to re blue. Are those made of aluminum and will they blue ?
-
I have a deactivated MP38 and want to know if there is a particular way to remove roll pins. Does it matter if it is removed left to right or vise versa ? Thank you.

Hi Jeff I know what you mean lol. What I do with my OOW 1918A3 is pretty much as you see in the video, perhaps try wearing a glove. Not sure if this will help, maybe give you more grip and prevent cuts. Also check YouTube for disassemble/reassembly videos. Regards. Rob

Thanks Kocapuff1 , yes there are two different Thompsons in these pictures I have two dewats. An M1 Thompson and M1A1 Thompson, wish I could legally own functioning versions.

I cannot say that I ever liked the barrel band, however in your photos, it looks really nice and adds a rather classy look to it.......
Thank you Slimpikins and to everyone else for the compliments. The barrel band on this one is actually needed the fore stock actually wobbled too much without it.

Hello Johnny70 welcome to the forum. That is a fine example of an M1 Thompson too bad it is a deact, what are you able to do with it, can you cycle the action and field strip it ?
-
Sorry for the poor quality the sun was not shinning to provide better light for the pictures.

Great looking piece and thank you for the pictures.

Gotta love it. Any more pics?
Thanks for the compliments guys. I did not take anymore pictures on my tromp in the snow, but I can take more if you wish. Also I have a thread on here of my M1 and M1A1 dewats, think you must use the search engine here for them.

Yes. It was a problem on the 28 as well. The Brits used a host of repair tactics on their guns before the AOC stock reenforcing bolts were deployed. Some of the late M1A1s left the factory with them.

Thank you. I have several used M1 M1A1 butt stocks and most have these cracks.
-
Is it common for the M1 and M1A1 Thompson butt stocks to develop stress cracks where the stock meets the lower frame ?
-
Very nice thanks for sharing, got more ? Wish I could load a full mag on mine !
-
Have your mags been converted to 5 shot mags? I guess it's a Canada thing?
-Darryl
Hi Darryl yes they are blocked to 5 rds unfortunately.

Thank you for the information.

I have a deactivated Mk 1 Bren gun, the upper and lower receivers are welded together preventing disassembly. Can the stock and pistol grip come off without special tools and seperating the upper and lower ? Thank you.

Receiver not stripped, bolt is not in the firearm.
