  1. @ron_brock photo was on Facebook page pertaining to old cars. I downloaded it, not sure how much more resolution you would get.
  2. I believe it is a Lincoln, what caught my eye was the Thompson on the Running Board.
  3. When I posted this I didn't know. Thank you StrangeRanger for providing the title. " Pardon Us"
  4. My work has sent me to Georgia again, I remember few years back going to Harlem Georgia to the Laurel and Hardy Museum. And remembered downloading some Photos that I forgot to Post. Laurel and Hardy with a Thompson SMG from one of their Movies. Apparently a Prison Break is in the Works, and they got a Thompson. Two different Thompson are shown.....one with what looks to be a Scope mounted on it. I will have to find out what one of their Movies this came from. Probably one of their post Silent Movies. Laurel & Hardy were Originals, who's influence can still be seen in other comedies Teams like ... Ralph Kramden /Ed Norton, Skipper/Gilligan etc etc I am pretty sure I didn't post this before, If I did I will remove
  5. Done completely late 1990's with Brownells Oxpho-Blue. Both Liquid and Paste. Metal Prep is the Key, lots of hand Sanding and Polishing with Steel Wool and Crocus Cloth. Doing it yourself is a great way to learn more about your Firearms.
  6. Years ago I got great results with Brownells Cold Blue Liquid and Cold Blue Cream Paste. Attention to Metal prep is the Key to a good finish product. Things like fine sandpaper, Steel Wool, Crocus Cloth for hand Polishing And Brownells Liquid Degreaser just before applying Bluing to get rid of any Oils from your fingers.
  7. It took me a second to realize why he wanted to widen an original 1/2 to 3/4. I had this issue once....the current 3/4 from Auto Ordnance is cut for the 16 inch Barrel and has a wider Barrel area. The original 10.5 Barrel would look strange in the wooden horizontal grip with room on the sides I went through this when working with the Green Mountain 14.5 Barrel/welded Cutts
  8. When I saw the L Sight, I thought this was something buried during WW2. Lots of stuff on these Restoration Videos are from Europe. When WD-40 and Liquid Wrench FAILS, I break out this stuff for Rusted or just plain tight Screws, Bolts I try the others first because this is stuff is expensive.
  9. Came across this on Facebook. TSMG is not a 1918, from the Rear L Sight a 1928A1
  10. Anyone know a Gunsmith that cuts Compensator Threads onto Barrels ? I came across an M1 Smooth Barrel and thought about adding a Cutts Compensator for a more Military/ M1928A1 look. I heard that new production semi use press fitted Compensators,....not sure if you use a Loc-Tight type product to keep from falling off. Rather use one of my extra Threaded Cutts Compensator. Thanks.
  11. Thanks. I plan to contact him about using my existing Mag Release for modification. Tm I purchased this years ago from either Sarco or Numrich. It had a large raised " pimple" that I ground down with a Dremel tool. Maybe he checker it. I will send photos to them.
  12. Thanks for posting photo of 1921 Style Magazine Release. I was planning on buying one after seeing his Advertisement. I have no problem with a waiting or manufacturing time, as long as the Parts are shipped and I receive them.
  13. After reading Tennessee Taylor post here, maybe I'm better to try and work with the Magazine Catch that I ground down the Bump. Clean up the area with small Files or a Dremel tool. Try to make it look like Checkering, then Cold Blue it. I thought for the Money just get a nice Repro and just save the one picture for another project that might come down the road, but now back to this one. This project was on the Back Burner for several years while I built a Retro 601 AR.
  14. Thanks, TD for the Information of my Mag Catch and Las Cruces Gunsmith
  15. I stand corrected, I polished it years ago, but never got around to hitting it with Brownells Cold Blue. I dug out the Mag Catch to take a picture. I do not see where a Hole would be like on a 1928 style My original question was if anyone has purchased products or a Repro 1921 Mag Catch from LCGNM ??
  16. I found a company that makes 1921 Style Magazine Catches from a 1928 Catch....a reproduction starting with original parts. The Company is called LCGNM or Las Cruces Gunsmith Accessories. I was wondering if anyone has purchased anything from them and if you had a positive experience with dealing with them and products quality ? Thanks, Jojeep PS: Years ago I purchased a Mag Catch from either Numrich or Sarco that was a 1921 reject or 2nd....there was a Raised Bump where the hole would be. I filed and grounded it down a little with a Dremel tool to clean it up and then Cold Blued.
  17. I went the Green Mountain Barrel route a few years back on my 1927A Semi. Before having the Cutts Welded on, I had the Barrel " Hollywood Blank Adapted ". Last Summer purchased a second Green Mountain Barrel for maybe a future project. I once saw a photo of a WW2 M1A1 with a Finned/Cutts Replacement Barrel. I sent Green Mountain an email inquiring if they made Smooth version of the 14.5 Barrel threaded for the Cutts for the 1928A1 Look, they don't.
  18. Was wondering about the New Production M1 Carbines from places like Inland and Auto Ordnance etc..... are parts interchangeable with Original GI Parts. Had thought about a New Production one after seeing some on YouTube in use....one caught my eye,..M1 Advisor with Paratrooper Stock(M2 Conversion)....Nice but I don't want the NFA hassle, costs, waiting time etc right now. Anyone own a New Production? Good or Bad experiences ?? My first New Carbine experience was not Good, years ago, early 1980s purchased a brand new Universal Carbine, owned it oh....about a week. Took to the Range and it had constant malfunctions with new Ammo. Tried different Magazines, same problems. Took back to Gunshop next day, his Gunsmith took a look at it, small crack in Gas Block. Money was refunded. I later found out while it looked like a GI Carbine, with a black metal Handguard, parts were not interchangeable with GI, so I wanted know about Interchangeable Parts with these New ones. Later 1980s had a Quality Hardware for few years, I think that was the name....I do remember one thing, a Detachable Spring Tube.....didn't know till after purchased...fired great. But was told by someone not to rapid fire, the Spring Tube could burst /splinter through the Stock causing injuries, that's why long Drilled Hole on other WW2 Made ones Anyone ever hear of these Detachable Spring Tubes coming out the side or back of the Stocks. ???. Thanks.
  19. Finally finished a project I started maybe 2 years ago. Purchased a Repro Vertical Foregrip from somewhere I forgot, maybe Sarco or IMA., but decided to finished it. Started Sanding it years ago to get a better contour then the block of wood it looked like when I got it. Another part that drew this project out was looking for the type of Sling Swivel Mount that I read were sometime used during WW2 by the British. I tracked down a 3pc Slings Mount from an Enfield Rifle with an Off Set Swivel. I can see why the Off Set Swivel was used, with the Sling attached it sits slightly higher and doesn't effect your Grip. This will be going on a Semi with a Blank Adapted Green Mountain 14.5 Barrel with Welded Cutts. My next project for this Gun is an slightly longer Horizontal Foregrip to off set the 14.5 Barrel. I might have to have someone make that from one piece of Wood rather than cutting two Horizontal Foregrips to make one.
  20. If you decide to change Buttstocks, look around for a Buttstock Conversion Kits with 6 screws rather than 4 screws for a tighter hold. Also look for a good Gunsmith that can remove/ Mill off the Fixed Screws points and Drill and Tap for the Conversion Plate needed. I had this done a around 10 years ago. For awhile it was hard to find the Hardware, the slide with Button needed for the Detachable Buttstock.....Sarco had advertised repros years ago. Butt Plates were also in short supply then....but check around with companies like Numrich, Apex, etc
  21. If you have a SBR there probably is no problem switching from Vertical Grip to Horizontal Foregrip. Just a Shorter Screw. Available from Sarco or Numrich Gunparts( buy 2-3 to justify the Shipping.) But if you have the Ugly 16in Barrel,Barrel Profile on the Horizontal Foregrip is cut differently, it's wider. If you are purchasing a GI Surplus Horizontal Foregrip, the Grip Mount on the older Thompson were 1/2 inch....currently they are 3/4 for extra strength. If planning on the 28 detachable Buttstock as a replacement, I'm not sure who or if someone is selling Buttstock Adapter Kits, I got my years ago from the Late Doug Richardson. I believe his had 6 screws for a stronger hold where some other people were selling 4 Screw Kits. If you don't live in a Class 3 State and can't get SBR....Green Mountain makes a 14.5 Barrel...that you must weld the Cutts onto to make it 16inch Good Luck with your new Purchase.
  22. If the current Thompson Pistol(10.5) had the Cutts Welded in place I wondered if that would bring it out to 13.5 and the overall length of 26inchs....I sorta went through this bs when I had a detachable Buttstock kit put on 1927 A1 and a Green Mountain 14.5 with Welded Cutts put on....I had to meet the 26in requirements. It just shows the Asinine People that make up our Gov't Regulations. All I ever wanted was the Semi with a 10.5 barrel like the original. to Blank Adapt for WW2 Reenactment, but I live in a State run by Marxist Democrats, so I have the Green Mountain Barrel 14.5 Blank Adapted. Recently purchased a 2nd Green Mountain 14.5 Barrel to maybe one day put on my Semi M1 then see about custom Horizontal Foregrip that maybe 1-2 inches longer to hide some Barrel length.
