  1. The only thing left to do is the crocodile covering on the outside. The box at the top is for documents and will have partioned areas for spare parts.
  2. Thats the exact same case/brand I used for mine. I've finished the inside finally and will post photos shortly. Fun project.
  3. Took mine to a jewelry store and had them engrave the reciever, did a really nice job, but do it in the same format and spacing as the engraving that already exists on the gun to look the best.
  4. I appreciate your dad's service and commitment to our country, a very honorable man.
  5. This is such a cool gun. I have several pistols, but the cool factor of this gun outweighs the others by far, I digress. I have several 30 round box mags (tuned for semi-auto already) and would be willing to trade one for a 20 round Mag (tuned for semi-auto) if anybody is interested. The ones I have are all WWII surplus and in great shape, I just want one 20 rounder because of the way it looks in the gun. Mine are the large C with co. appearing inside the letter C, whatever this means ( I do know their desirable). 0 Back to topQuoteMultiQuoteEditReport

  7. Wow, tough room. I must be a little older than a lot you guys here, I like crocodile; is that better.
  8. Appreciate the feedback, but I'm fruit about crocodile and want to create an hierloom piece for my sons, they'll have to fight over it when I'm gone, besides crocodile adds that extra bit of elegance and wow factor factor. I'll post pictures when I'm done.
  9. Thankyou for the kind words, it was a lot of fun making.
  10. I have a SBR. Thankyou, I'm realy pleased with the way it came out.
  11. I'm a new member that only has a semi, but thought you guys might be interested in seeing the violin case I converted for my gun. It will be covered in crocodile on the outside when done and is made out of a wooden 1900s small violin case around 31" in length. Let me know what you think. I did all the work myself.
  12. Weasel that appears to be real alligator, I'm soooo jealous. I'll have to spend around $400 on corocodile hides to cover the outside of mine. The construction on mine was real easy, time consuming but easy. I simply took the case apart and reglued all the cracks and corners for streangth and out lined the case on foam board that is normally used for insulation. Cut out templates to fit the inside of the case then outlined the gun parts on the templates (making sure first the layout would fit into the case). Put the inserts with the gun/parts cut out (with a drywall saw) in the case, layed velvet on top and pressed the gun pieces into place and then tucked everything in around the edges. A little elmers glue here and there and voila! I will post some pictures and some up dated photos as well. In the photo with the pink top you can see the foam used for the case, built in layers to achieve the right thickness. This was the the original layout I had with both recievers on one side and all the grips and mag in the top, but decided it involved too many steps taking off the horizontal foregrip and putting all the pieces of the gun together so decided on the setup in my final design. Now you just snap the upper and lower recievers together and your done. If anybody needs help in constructng their own, I'd be happy to help, just email and I can go into detail and give you some pointers on what doesn't work. This was my 3rd design/setup on the interior before I got it right, now every thing is very sturdy and snug as a bug in a rug. P.S. Be sure to reinforce the handles to support the weight. The case is just the wooden type violin case from the 1900s you see with hook latches and a thin brass handle, it's somewhere around 31" in length.
  13. Thanks'. This has been over a year project with most of the time waiting on the tax stamp, almost done though.
  14. I'm new here and love the site. Here are a few photos of the violin case I'm converting for my gun, it will be covered in crocodile when I'm done and have a section that will display bullets like colt used to do in their pistol presentation cases. Post any shots you have. Finally finished the inside. The box on the inside hold a copy of my tax stamp and spare parts, people here and friends have convinced me to leave the outside alone, so I just waxed and polished it.
