  1. He is not a shooter but a passionate and knowledgeable collector. He wants them for himself and in my opinion, he's right. Better that beach front real estate. I tried to make an offer and he said no. I have a ton of stuff that I plan to die with. I'm going to stay in touch and ask once a year. Eric
  2. This guy won't sell me any. What is this Country coming to when cash is no good. I imagine he found it sitting in a police locker for 60 to 100 years. Eric
  3. It happens to everyone, if you don't have the back foot planted. Plus, I'm getting old. 60 in August. Now try it with the aftermarket 30 round magazine. BTW it worked flawlessly. Eric
  4. Target sports just sent me an e-mail. The Factory M80 ball ammo on links and in cans is back in stock. $129 can of 200 delivered/ 65 cents a round delivered. Very good. Eric
  5. I have a few Jim and they are beautiful. I am not fond of the parked mags. I am not opening all my wrapped and cased mags but they are probably parked also. Eric
  6. Hi John My Uncle is Winston Schepps and lives in Birmingham Alabama. They call him Winnie. It is a small world. Tell your Father thanks very much for his service. 3 tours is way above and beyond the call of duty. My Father did 2 tours and wasn't going back to a hole in the ground, so he switched to MI and got a job in Saigon the 2nd. tour. Eric
  7. I was pretty sure i knew how it ended, but Woody and Kevin did a nice acting job. The guns were very realistic, IMHO and they used a Monitor besides the 1918. Eric
  8. Just found out. That picture of my Grandfather was 1928. He was class of 1928. He was killed in WW2. I thought it was more recent. My great Uncle was class of 1924. He's the one who gave my Father the 1911 pistol that dates to 1918. My Father was class of 1955. My bother was class of 1980 and i think that was the first class that allowed Women. My Uncle was class of 1959. He graduated 2nd to the last in his class. He enjoys that distinction and says at least he wasn't last. Eric
  9. I agree with you. I don't think I tried them, but they feel like junk. I will probably auction them off and donate the money to charity. I got them for free with the guns I bought. The Thompson cases, that came with the guns, were full of mags and drums. Thanks for the feedback. Eric
  10. Yes you can. I try to keep them original but you can interchange them. The e-4 Mod1 has the scope rail. You can also close the newer ones with the bolt forward. I keep several spares for mine which I think is a good idea. You never know what the future holds. This is an E-4 and an E-4 mod1 top cover. I would use the E-4 top cover on the pig since it looks the same and has the upgrades. Put the mod1 cover on if you want to use a scope. Eric
  11. BTW before i put it back together, i use the M60 brush connected to a dedicated electric screw driver and some good oil and solvent to clean the gas tube. My piston free floats like never before. If you are in the area, I will clean and rewire for free. Eric
  12. I ran into the same thing (on Amazon) and ended up with 2 choices of pliers that i bought and at least 3 guages of wire spools. I'm ready for the zombies. Eric
  13. I have a bunch of these (like 10) and they "free float" when i crank them and they feel like shit. I probably got them when i purchased some guns but they seem like junk? Are these repro or West Hurley or junk or what? I do have a few or more of the ones that have the "U" on them and they feel like quality. Thanks Eric
  14. This is a framed photo of my Grandfather and probably dates to the late 30's. Eric
  15. Thank you! God bless our veterans. Many of the kids nowadays have no idea what the hell they went, and go through. I study and collect history so I have an idea but have never been there. Aside from fighting and dying, they are at the very least, away from loved ones. I think a forum to honor any of them is a great idea. I would visit new posts every day. Eric
  16. Sarco is hit or miss on condition. I prefer paying up on Gunbroker. Depends on your priority. I am a collector. I bought this one some time ago on Gunbroker for a decent price. Eric
  17. I knew that would get caught after I posted it. Lol I'm on it. Thanks Eric
  18. Here is one i did Takes a bit a practice the first time to be satisfied with the job. Eric
  19. I use the wire pliers and get great satisfaction treating the job like art work. With the right wire and the right pliers, you can make it look beautiful. Super easy. Eric
  20. Looks like UNAMMO got the factory, belted, Lake City ammo back in stock. It has the 4-1 tracers which I don't like but depends where you are shooting it I guess. Cans in crates. I think there will come a day we look back and dream of an item like this. I stocked up. Eric
  21. Yes TY great guy. His Father was killed in WW2 and to this day if i try to ask any questions or bring it up he starts to cry. He just can't talk about it. I do have a 1911 from 1918 that has been passed down in the family. It has a WW2 hammer that i am changing to the correct one. My Grandfather, Father, Uncle, Brother and great Uncle are all West Pointers. Eric
  22. The cool thing is guaranteed original based on the provenance. Too many fakes and reproductions out there. I will die with it. My Father has been thru hell in his life and it's amazing he is still alive. He is 87 and still plays tennis. Thin as a rail and in great shape. Eric
  23. Thanks guys. Here is his exact reply to me. I don't know too much about these things. Eric "I was a senior battalion advisor of the 2nd ARVN Bn 1st ARVN Regt. After 4 months I got promoted to Major and became the senior regimental advisor. I was not with a US unit my first tour. We were the northernmost Vietnamese units in Vietnam."
