Does any body have any info on a toy gun. It is a Thompson 3005. I had one when I was a kid and found them in my moms attic this afternoon. I will try to post pictures if I can figure out how to upload them.

I have a barrel marked with a "p" just like the one in the original post. It has a square "s" on the rear of the front sight as well. The length of the barrel is 10 1/2 inches.

Can someone please clarify this for me? The NFA website says that starting July 13, 2016 that CLEO signatures are no longer required but instead "the responsible person shall forward a completed copy of ATF form 1 or 4 to the chief law enforcement officer of the locality in which the applicant is located". My question is, would a photo copy of my form 4 be acceptable or do I need to fill out a third form 4 and send it to the CLEO? Thanks in advance.

I am aware of intestate succession in PA. I have mentioned this to several people at the NFA and nodoby can tell me what kind of documentation I need to submit to prove that my mother is the lawful heir so she can sign the form 4 on my fathers behalf. She is not the executor because there was no will.

I need pointed in the right direction. I have made numerous calls to the NFA as well as class 3 dealers and I can't seem to get a straight answer. Here is my question My father who resided in Pennsylvania, recently passed without a will and he owned a tommy gun. He is survived by his spouce, my mother. I would like to know what needs done to transfer the firearm to me? Everyone I call at the NFA gives me a different answer or will not give me a straight answer.

There is no will. I was told I need to fill out a form 5 that my mother will sign on my dads behalf. I will also need a copy of the death certificate, their marriage license, and my birth certificate to prove right of heirship. Is this correct? I have one picture , but it's not a very good one.

I was told by my local class III dealer that sometimes he does and sometimes he dosent sign. But like others have said, after July 16 it dosent matter.

The form 5 instructions says. "The chief law enforcement officer is considered to be the Chief of Police for the transferee's city or town of residence; the Sheriff for the transferee's county of residence; the Head of the State Police for the transferee's State or residence; a State or local district attorney or prosecutor having jurisdiction in the transferee's area of residence" The sherif of the county is listed second, should I go to chief of police for the city before I go to the sheriff of the county?

I am a new member with a few questions. Tomorrow I am meeting with the sheriff of the county I am from in PA to ask him if he would sign my form 5. The tommy gun was my fathers and he passed away and I am trying to get it transferred to me. I am told he signs some and not others. Is there anything special I should say or ask for or should I just go in and ask with my fingers crossed?
