Yeah since they are part of eBay, they sort of placed a monopoly on payment methods. That way they get to screw the seller three times on your sale (once for ebay selling fee, once for final value on shipping, and once on the paypal fee). If they keep it up and keep raising their fees, soon sellers will find out that you could just box it up and let an auction house sell it for you. Ron Hi Ron. When I started on eBay almost 19 years ago the fees were around 4% and when PayPal started it was at no charge. Now it's 9% for eBay and about 3.5% for PayPal. Of course eBay gets commission on the shipping too... but.. I'm still paying about 15% total which is much cheaper than any auction house. I sell at multiple live auctions in the area.. and the rates run from 18% to as high as 30%. The advantage with eBay is you get customers from all over the world, not just your local area. Take care.
