  1. Anyone know what holds the dust cover closed on a Model 1950? Did not have a retention spring when I got it and it is apparently different than all previous models. I can't figure out if its a flat or coil spring or a detent.
  2. No I'm using an 08 barrel with the 08/15 muzzle sleeve.
  3. Thank you for your response, I am thinking that it is likely a recoil issue. There isn't any packing. When I got the gun it had been painted with black spray paint, pretty thick. I stripped it and hot blued it. So I am assuming any packing material that may have been there would have been removed by either the paint stripper or the actone it was soaked in. The booster is a repro made by Adco, from what I can tell its made exactly like the original. I took the booster off yesterday and did a pogo test like on an MG42 and it seem a little ruff. I opend the cover and checked it after firing it several times and the lock appeared to be at the top of the stroke, the fuzzee was set to 20 during test firing. I ordered a copy of The Devil's Paintbrush yesterday. I am going to try and disassemble it and see if I can't get the barrel assembly moving more freely before I test fire it again.
  4. Just finished restoration on MG08/15 registered dewat. Test fired it and it fires ejects but does not load a round in chamber. Will load and fire by hand cycling. Ran 20 rounds through it had hand cycle everyone. Recoil action is not stripping a round from the belt. Anyone have a suggestion.
  5. You nailed that is what the problem was. I guess one of my dumbass employees must have dropped it because the end of the shroud was buggered up. Took me a couple of hours but I got the threads cleaned up and it works now thanks you very much!
  6. That was my first thought but it looks like it is bottomed out on the inside of fhe receiver. I was only able to get it to go a quarter turn in but not enough to line the extractor cut back up. After looking at some pics you may be right I will go back over and see if that maybe the issue. Its an all matching gun so its not a replacment part and the barrel has not been out of it since I first got it 4 years ago.
  7. My MP28 started doing something odd when the bt closes on a round the back end of the extractor pops out and prevents the bolt from retracting. Anyone dealt with a similar issue. It appears the extractor is just too loose but not sure what might be going on.

  9. You wouldn't happen to know where I could find a bipod for it?
  10. I could tig a little metal on the safety sear and file it down to the right length. We're only talking a few thousandth of an inch.
  11. I was experimenting to see if it would improve the trigger. Without a round in it the travel and pressure required is fairly normal. With a round the travel and pressure is ridiculous. Also how do I set the timing permanently?
  12. I was experimenting if that would improve the trigger. Without a round in it the trigger has a fairly normal travel and takes little pressure. With a round in it the travel and pressure required is ridiculous. Also how do I fix the timing permanently?
  13. Yeah I stuck two nickels under the tab in the picture and dry fired it with a dummy round. Would you like a video of it? They will sit right there on the ledge. Prior to that I put 15 pieces of tape. The more tape I put under it the the less travel and pressure required to trip the sear.
  14. Ok got a chance to test it out. With two pieces of tape it fired and ejected. Still about 20 miles of travel in the trigger. I put two nickles on in place of the tape and it only reduced the travel by half. These guns just have shitty triggers or is it something else?
  15. Ok thanks I'll give that a try and let you know.
  16. I am just using primed cases and dummy rounds to test but the sear will not trip with case in the chamber but if partially extract the it slam it back in the chamber sometimes if will fire.
  17. There was no lock in the gun when I bought it. Barrel was barely tacked to the receiver. Took me about 5 minutes with a Dremel to free it. Purchased a lock in excellent condition from ebay and a used barrel from IMA. Gun will cycle and fire without a round in the chamber. But not with a round in it. Will occasionally fire if you draw theround out of the chamber halfway and release while hiding the trigger. Which indicates to me the headspace is only slightly off. My thoughts would be to take a few thousands of the slots on the breech face but I don't know for sure. Taken down the brass collar also seems like a possible way to get the barrel to move slight forward in the housing.
  18. Purchased a register dewat 08/15 and need to headspace a new barrel and lock but I am not sure what the proper method for doing so. Can someone advise me on what part needs to be altered?
