  1. Hey Guys, I was thinking now that I live somewhere that allows NFA items, I would like to file with the ATF to SBR my West Hurley 1927. What parts would I need to do this? Ideally I would like to put on an all new barrel rather than chopping my existing one just so that I can change it back one day if I had to.
  2. Thanks Guys! Was thinking of doing the removable stock conversion but always hate making permanent modifications to guns this old that are in good shape.
  3. Update. Love this little carbine. Been working on the stock nightly with boiled linseed oil, really starting to bring out the beauty of the walnut. Tempted to replace the slab side grips with new once, but feel bad as it is a characteristic of a West Hurley. I do have a question though, why does it have a sling swivel on the rear stock but nowhere to attach a sling forward?
  4. Ya, do not ruin a 70 plus year old magazine. I'll find the tutorial. How are the new made 50 round drums? Currently I have the 10 round one but it is a little bit of a pain to load for 10 rounds. Get one of the Taiwanese drums ... They work pretty well Excellent! I will try to find one. I think I will get a second mag latch to modify, I would hate to ruin antique mags.

  6. This one has a 5 digit serial number. Now to find more magazines for it.
  7. Good Afternoon guys. I have the opportunity to trade into a 1989 West Hurley 1927A1 Deluxe from a friend of mine. Comes with 1- 10 round drum and a blocked stick magazine, plus some ammo. Is there anything to look out for on the West Hurleys? I shot 200 rounds of various ammo through the carbine without a hiccup, and it does seem to be in 95% or better condition. Is this worth adding to the collection?
  8. Are the magazines that Numrich sells for the Kahr M1 clones worth purchasing? Im currently trying to find a few magazines to go with the recently acquired M1 and the price seemed attractive.
  9. Went to Lowes and bought a nice section of oak dowel. That did wonders! Now I can at least get good purchase on it for cycling.
  10. Are surplus mags still readily available in order to make modifying the catch worthwhile?
  11. Is there a way to modify the take down pin so I don't need a screw driver?
  12. Hi guys, Just bought a new to me Thompson M1 now that Im no longer in California. I love this little carbine. Is there anything I need to be wary of as an owner of one of these? Its hard to cycle still but I feel that is because it was unfired and needs to break in. Is it worth putting the extended charging handle on?
