FWIW The Beretta receiver was formed out of sheet metal and the Lanchester and Sten receivers are made from tubes not milled from billet.  The MP40 looks like it was designed by a guy who made cuckoo clocks in civilian life

What beretta reciever are you referring to as sheet metal.......the M38 and M38/44 stuff I have is all machined......

Anyone know how to contact History Arms? Their site doesn't have any contact info and the contact us page does not work. Seems kinda sketchy but if they list what i need.

I ordered from them once before......was not really pleased with the product, plust it took quite a while to show up....ordered a reproduction forearm and it was kinda cheesy at best. Call me at the shop (Macon Armory) Monday and remind me....I'm peicing together/making the parts for a franken kit that will eventually get built into a shooter.....I'll pull the screws on one of mine measure and see if I have any.....

The problem with the Keystones is that they don't function 100% and no one has figured out why. They appear to be identical to the Christies (the gold standard of Reising mags) and sometimes a given Keystone will run like a sewing machine and other times it will sputter and puke on the very same ammo. I'd say that what the world needs is a feed lip tool except that the lips on my H&R mags are dimensionally all over the place and run almost as reliably as the Chrisites despite their advanced age.

What is humorous about all of this on the Keystone /Christie mags is the dies are the same ones......the original Christie mags were made by Service Stampings in Willoughby OH ......who also make parts for me as well. When Ken sold them they went to Keystone. Wish now I had bought the dies when I had the opportunity a few years ago.....just didn't have the spare cash at the time.....Might look into it again.....:D

  4. I would make other arangement than Square.....If they find out what you are using for is firearm related they will pull the plug with NO notification. Ask me how I know :D

I used them early on when I was first starting out....and they seriously screwed me up.....Cool product, :D wish I'd thought of it as another use for my 20 round AR45 magazines.....May you sell a metric crap load of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Find someone with a mill......plunge cut with a small endmill and then follow with a drill once you have a flat. Gonna take some serious setup to not drill a new hole in the mag well on the backside..........:-) Seriously if the setup is good you can drill from both sides and meet in the middle.....then ream without the magwell

EDIT: Are you trying to cut the opening for the mag to enter the tube.....or drill the hole for the pin to hold the magwell in place?

  6. Recently aquired these in a batch of stuff, and as I don't have a type 92 or anticipate aquiring one :D thought I'd see if anyone here was interested. Best price I have seen on these is $150 a strip and not in as good condition. As always  I am flexible and open to offers and trades. Always interested in Thompson , MP38/40, M38 Beretta, FBP, and sten goodies.....kit or parts......:D Hopefully I can find these a proper home.

what ever happend with the mag adapters for ppsh 41 to use german mp-40 mags ? you talked about makeing 6 mo ago ? im still waiting, just sayn?

One man shop......and I am swamped. They are still on the board to be done....I have material,  but wasn't a high priority when I started looking at them.

They will get done eventually....but it is a speculation part......I have prepaid orders that come first.

I knew of two.  Maybe your third fake will work?  Most of that stuff is held pretty closely and isn't up for public display or tear down for a number of reasons.  Often the option is to buy one and then do what you want and sell it off later?

The images online and in the video should be enough to make one up? Other than the stamping dies, which the Germans never got right either?

I can make one that works no sweat......but I'd like to make one as close as possible to the original. Unfortunately the online pics basically suck and don't give the detail necessart yo do a faithful reproduction.......I wouldn't need to disassemble.....jus need to see one working. Exploring the possibility of getting access to the one at FT Lee....that was at Aberdeen. A significant number of my peer group form the Army while retired, still carry a bit of influence. when they wore three stars on active duty. We shall see.

Hi I am looking for the correct thread measure for the MP40 muzzle threading . I thought it was 15x1 but seems closer to 16mm x 1.5 RH. Can anyone confirm this, or give the "official" measure? Thanks!

I will confirm in the AM, lost the hydraulic power unit on the Haas lathe and forgot to check in the rush to get the lathe back running.

  10. Someone planted the seed in my somewhat fevered brain that I needed to look into doing an EMP44 clone :D ......and I'll need to duplicate the sliding magwell to make it.

Pretty much got the rest already figured out. Just need to do the Magwell. I COULD just make one but I'd like it to be mechanically similar to the original..... and not what I come up with to accomplish the goal.

  11. .578 x 28 is usually indicative of a 45 acp pistol suppressor with a spring loaded neilsen device required for locked breech reclil operated pistols to function. Please do not shoot your MP40 unless you have an adapter to disable the moveable piston. For a blowback action you'll need a fixed piston adapter for your can. I'll measure the threads on one of my barrels and get back to you. If you were closer I'd say swing buy the shop and we'd make one.

Oh are you the lucky one that got all those pieces on Strum ? 👍🏻🥇🏆

nope...I was 5 minutes late.....bought a bunch of other stuff from Charlie and beat on him (not really, he's a great guy)  :D till he dug some more stuff up for me......I DID get a bunch of blank tubes from him that I am gonna machine into display  receivers....

still looking for the rear sight base, thanks!

Do you have the sight and need just the base? I need a couple myself and was planning on making a couple....hoping to have a lot more free time in the near future... :D

  14. Does anyone have the drawing for an MP41 receiver......while close to an MP40 which I have.....some definite differences and I'd like to get it right the first time as I am using one of my remaining Philly ord tubes.  Lacking a drawing....if anyone in the middle Ga area (within a couple of hours of Macon) has an actual MP41 that they would let me take a few measurements off the reciever, I'd be very grateful.
