Thinking to save wear on my MP-40 parts, I bought an FBP bolt and telescoping spring assembly and tried it out in my MP-40. It didn't work. For some reason, it would not reliably fire the cartridge and the gun was unreliable. So I put the FBP parts in the parts bin and that's where they still are. Perhaps the tolerances were too extreme, or the firing pin protrusion was not deep enough into the primer, or perhaps the recoils spring was weaker that the German one, but it just didn't for my gun. Others have had success with it.
I'd be interested in the FBP bolt and buffer if you are interested in parting with them.
OP.....it is possible to make a new nose cap to put an MP40 pin on an FBP buffer..... https://www.frontline-militaria.com/mp40-telescope-set.html but these guys have them instock and they work well, I have purchased several along with firing pins from them, take a few weeks to get here.....but they are a solid reliable parts source. Buy with confidence.

I have a rear section with the three lugs that lock into the lower......but the finish is much more worn......I could hit it whith a little Belgian blue and match it up a little if need be. If doing a reweld, I'd weld first and then match after all finish work is done.
-
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!! found an overlapping section that will allow a reweld under the rear magwell band....and matches finish wise.....
-
I'd probably try an ultrsonic cleaner with acetone first.
-
Got the two together.....and while it will be very usable.....the MP41 tube doesn't quite match the the MP40 in the seam where the flat was rolled......I can make it match but would prefer something I don't have to......so I'm still looking. If someone has a front section that would allow me to cut it inder the rear magwell band......would allow a reweld that would be damn hard to spot
Rekraps......Not quite that big LOL

I'm seriously contemplating haveing a set of wrenches for barrel nut removal/torque either lasered or water jetted......if any one is interested in a set......probably make them from 1/4 AR500, let me know. No idea on pricing at them moment, need to get drawing generated and sent out to my laser guy.

Realized the trunnion on an MP41 kit had what I needed.....made a support fixture for the tube and a mandrel/driver for the trunnion.......heated the braze metal to molten and tapped the trunnion out of the tube remnant.....both pieces 100% undamaged......😀
-
Does any one have an MP40 trunnion with a piece of tube.....I have aquired a saw cut reciever section that is missing the trunnion and about 1.187 to 1.250 of the tube where the trunnion fit....I have spare trunnions and can probably machine a patch.......but just thought I'd check here.....I have spare barrel nut/trunnion sets if someone needs for a Philly Ordnance tube.....and a few other miscellaneous parts if someone needs.
-
Don't sweat the barrel ....headspace isnt an issue on blowback guns.
-
Suppressed MP40's were a thing......just not common

I have bought quite a few....if anything they are a little long but a couple of minutes on a belt sander they are easy to shorten and round the tip.

I have about 250 magazines and various price points based on condition. Just reach out direct to me and I can discount and no sales tax. Eric
Wilco....I am tax exempt on GB... I am up around Knob Creek KY for the last few days for mother in laws funeral.....Have aquired a couple already....looking for maybe three more for now, more later.......finish is not a concern....just need good functional mags. I will be cold rust bluing the tube on the gun so mags will probably get the same treatment.....I only have expired GB contact info.....if you could respond to rudyk@maconarmory.com it would be appreciated.

Merry Christmas Billy....sent you an email and PM here Saw everything I needed , thank you! I lucked out and bought one on GB two days after I sent yours back...LOL

Anyone have one or two MP41 marked magazines they'd be willing to part with?

Are the adapters available? If so from whom?
It is on my list to do ......have material on hand......just need the time. Planning on making a small run of them that will use a sten mag for PPSh41 and Yugo 49/57, I'll give you a shout when I get them made.......

Sten mags fit the adapter.

Thanks been watching a couple of days and went ahead and bid on it....:-)

Part of the reason I am working on a new adapter is I have 3 PPSH41's and two Yugo 49/57's to build...... ;D and very few 41 mags, only a dozen or so sticks and drums.....I have a shitload of sten mags.... and while I have around 15k of tok ammo....saving it for DI 7.62 x 25 AR's. Also have a mod follower and insert on the to do list for PPS43 mags to 9mm, The Tokarec mags will feed 9mm fine,,,,,but my experience has been less than 100% reliably.

Ok, thanks for the tips. I haven't really tried to muscle it in. I may give anti-seize a try.
DON'T ...if you try to muscle in you run the risk of massively screwing it up. If near Macon GA swing by the shop and let me look at it, I'll measure the threads on one of mine also and see if I have a tap to clean up the ID thread......probably easiest to use a thread file on the OD/cap thread. In the future, save yourself aggravation and money.....order springs from wolf, and the buffer assembly from these guys..... https://www.frontline-militaria.com/mp40-telescope-set.html
The also have firing pins.... https://www.frontline-militaria.com/mp40-firing-pin.html
Hard to tell for sure....but if the damage is limited to the staked area, I can probably clean it up in a few minutes with a dremel and a cutoff wheel.....

I see you got one to look at that is great. Looks to me like the pin is tapered inside and the spring is internal and on the other side the mag catch is pressed in place and that holds it all together
The button is definitely a reduced diameter internal......that retains the spring....can't tell if threaded with a cap or just pressed together but the way the body is welded together I'm betting one or the other as any other way would have resulted in the spring being annealed during assembly. As replicas exist, no need to do it again after seeing one.....I'm looking more at functional new designs that use available magazines to improve life for builders and for registered owners that want to drop in a 9mm barrel and run reliably.

years ago i got a couple of the mag adapters for the ppsh-41 to use the mp-40 mags from IMI , they look great and worked perfectly, price was under 100.00, possibly made in india,, these still show up,, i think you will spend a lot more to make these today, but good luck,,just sayn
Check your PM's......got your package today......got all the measurements i needed and clues to how it was assembled. On the way back by Priority Mail Insured.

Thanks for the info.......the search continues......If you could post or email me a few pictures of the inside.....I'm trying to determine the size ant type of spring used and how it is captured....Thanks in advance if you can
From looking at the great pictures you supplied it appears the button/shaft is pretty slim and it just has a small spring....can you see any sign of a retaining pin.....????

would you consider allowing a 48 hour onsite inspection of the original.....I'll provide a shipping lable (Fed Ex Ground insured) to me and cover return insured shipping as well. If you'd consider selling, I'd be interested as well. I want to see how they made the mag catch and installed. I can find everythig I need with just a visual inspection. But I'd really like to have one for my library of unusual stuff

Pardon the tardy reply....I have been swamped in the shop and no time online lately......I have a box of MP40 reciever pieces inbound......Let me get them, should be late next week and if we can figure out how long a piece you need I may have an overlap.....call me at the shop next week and remenid me... 478 474-2990
I MAY have a piece that will overlap with your nose so ONLY one weld would be required
