years ago i got a couple of the mag adapters for the ppsh-41 to use the mp-40 mags from IMI , they look great and worked perfectly, price was under 100.00, possibly made in india,, these still show up,, i think you will spend a lot more to make these today, but good luck,,just sayn
If you still have one you will loan or sell......call me at the shop 478 474-2990. If I make in quantity with laser cut parts that require minimal finish machning I can make them quite economically Just want to inspect at least one original before I decide how I'll make them. If anyone sees one for sale shoot me a link and if original german MFG and not over $300 to $400 buy it....LOL and I'll send you cash

Probably doable but not with a relatively authentic mag adapter, as the Soumi is a double stack double feed mag., and honestly. sten mags get a pretty bad rap.....I have no issues with them when properly cleaned and tuned. The impetus for this project is I have a couple of PPSH41's to build and one is gonna have a 9mm conversion and use mags form my MP40 and MP41. Also bulding an M49/57 that will be 9mm and will convert a couple of drums for it.....but I'd like the stick adapter as well.
Also with Soumi mags it is more of a permanent mod to the mag or the gun because of the way the mag is retained. MP40, Vigneron, and Sten are all retained form the side. Plud I don't want to mess with my Soumi mags as I have 2 Swedish K's and about 5 Soumi's to build

Does anyone have one of the adapters for sale .....or even just loan for inspection and drawing. I want to make these for sale through Macon Armory, I can design and make a functional one....., but I'd like to make it as authentic as possible to the original. Would like to make 3 versions....one for MP40 mags, one for Vigneron mags and one for Sten

Get one while they are still being made. A real conversation starter! I keep a printed copy of Reidar Daae's research on the box, to include the German technical manual where it shows the box in a Luftwaffe van.
You know me.....LOL...I'm more about shooters than being historically correct......I'll probably build something similiar more to my purpose.......but that is an awesome set you have there...

as always.....NOTHING Half assed about your work.

Oh hell........something else I need......errrrr want

I buy and sell on GB as well......But I miss more than I win due to unrealistic pricing by most vendors....I also build and shoot what I build and repair as well. I have been the recipient of the generosity of the members of this board in completing projects of mine.....and have passed along a few parts as well.....This board and Weaponsguild are off limits for me as far as buying and flipping. I simply value the cameraderie and free exchange of knowledge on the boards mentioned more than I do the profit off of parts sold to me as a favor. I am currently building an MP41 clone as I can't justify the ludicrious prices I have seen on GB....Could probably afford....but I'd feel dirty...LOL, so far I have found parts on Sturm, a buddy on weaponsguild hooked me up with a trigger and housing for $50 bucks and I got a fire control group for Richard at Apex.....as I did just pick up a 41 kit for a reasonable price, I'm gonna most likely finish putting together this one as a kit....and then either build as a semi, or pass along to another builder for my cost.....I rounded up vigneron mags in a trade with a fellow member here....and damned if they don't fit a steel airsoft magwell nearly perfectly. Good news is now that I have a kit, gonna have a good friend make drawings and solid models so I can start making some replacement parts for both MP40 and 41. Just have to raise funds to buy a horizontal mill and have the profile cutter made and bolts will be in production I just can't wrap my head around the bolts listed on GB for over $1100 bucks.....made one fellow (NOT THE OP) an offer for a damaged 40 bolt after the third relist as I enjoy repairing things like this and making them useful again, and got cursed and insulted in the most vile terms I could imagine.....FOR MAKING AN OFFER. He is a member here.

Hey Rudy! Your Marne Man buddy here.
Do you happen to have an MP40 site hood laying around? If not, keep an eye out, willya?
https://www.dkproductiongroup.com/product/bd38-front-sight-protector/ This will work for temporary......it is a reproduction, but if stumble across an original spare I'll holler
Here is an original...... https://www.bergflak.com/mp/bs22.html

sold the kit to finance an MP41 repo grip frame fits fine.......buyer is cool with it.....can't wait to get the 41 kit in hand......
-
Thanks, I'll look for it........If I build a clone.....probably cheat and make it run with M38 beretta mags......:-) I have done sheet metal in the past.....but it is just so damn time consuming.....I try and avoid.

Very kind of you!
Please send me a text (404.290.2911) and let me know what you would charge to do so!
will try and give you a shout from the shop tomorrow....I see the 404...are you near Atlanta? I'm in Macon.

another option is an FBP kit from Richard at Apex....he still has a few with bolts and buffers.......fixed firing pin in the bolt face like an M1A1 Thompson
-
I have noticed the firing pins from D-K Productions have excessive protrusion from an original bolt allowing them to be fitted......I have one.....be happy to fit it to your bolt and buffer if you would like me to.

https://www.frontline-militaria.com/mp40-telescope-set.html I just ordered this, everything els I have gotten from these guys has been top notch. I have a set of wolff springs inbound...and they have firing pins for $25.00. I will report back when they get here.

ooooo where did you find that ? and do they have more lol
I peruse gunbroker every evening looking for deals that people don't recognize.....I bought a lot of 3 M38 Beretta kits a couple of years back for $500 because 1. they were just in a pile in the photos, and 2. They were listed as Baretta vs Beretta..... sold one at Knob Creek for $850

Where did you pick up a kit ? been looking myself but every where wants at least 5k
Parts set minus a few things....and I have accumulated most of what is missing....I actually have everything on hand or on order to complete, to include a reproduction grip frame.....but I'd rather have an original on that .
-
Found a very nice partial kit... now I just need a grip frame
-
Haven't been here long.......but damn near went into withdrawal like I did when Weaponsguild was down......Glad it is back.

Does anyone have pictures, drawings, parts, or even a complete gun thet I could look at measure or copy. Kinda interested in making a clone of one of these. Pretty squirrely little gun.....would be a fun project to make a piece at a time fromstock metal.
-
Got one!!!!!!!! Thanks to hawksnest.......need one more !!!!!!
-
Found these guys a home......

Just picked up another parts set (85% complete) and am looking for the goodies to finish it out. I have the Philly Ord Tube, and the only thing currently missing are the fore grips/side panels, what ever you want to call them , the grips, a Grip frame, and a buffer. I have the folding stock for the grip frame, just no frame. I ordered a replacement buffer assembly from Frontline-Militaria, everything I have gotten from them so far has been excellent. Ordered repop fore grips from HistoryArms, we shall see....... so the only thing I am really at a loss for is the Grip frame. I have one that came off a reproduction gun that seems to be magnetic and should fit and be functional.....but would really like to find an original. The kit is going up for sale as soon as I complete it......with one of Reconbobs tubes....more on that later.....
Thanks for checking your parts bins...:D
Glad to have the Forum back......

What's an MP40 "tray"?
The stripped metal part of the lower that the receiver fits in...... grip and hand guards attach to it.....I just always called it a tray.....probably not accurate...

Any chance I could impose on you for as many pictures of the original as possible.....and perhaps even the loan so I can make accurate measurements. I intend to reproduce these and would like to make them as accurately as possible. All I have been able to inspect have been reproductions. if not tied to a gun and if you are interested....I'd love to discuss a purchase?
