  1. Send me a pic of your lower screw and swivel removed from your stock at: mikebaker1129@aol.com I will help you get what parts you are missing from my spares.
  2. Can you post a picture ? The upper will be a standard BM59 wood screw, the lower should be attched to the sling swivel via a small threaded bushing.
  3. Jared, the barrel with the detachable para tri comp is longer than a BM62 barrel ,which is (17"). The Beretta manuel states 18.41" for the Para model, but the picture shows the barrel about 1/2" or so, past the end of the para gas lock. As long as your barrel is 17 7/8 " long or more you should not have a problem. Which barrel are you using for your build?
  4. I had a loose clip guide at one time. They are installed via the slot in the receiver and welded just as you mentioned.
  5. Greg I have a picture with an Italian soldier shooting one with what appears to be a suppressor.
  6. I know , I had one also. I was wondering if anyone could confirm a red one on a '62.
  7. Anyone have a BM62 with a red rubber buttpad ? Mine are black.
  8. Unfortunately the M14 stock will not fit .
  9. What a shame that such a fine piece was customized. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=267066604
  10. We would need to see some pictures to be for certain. In my opinion yes $2700 would be very steep if it comes with no extras, but that is just an opinion. Does it come with any extra magazines or extra stocks like a folder or a Nigerian? If so then it would add value to the deal. Sounds like a SA inc. built rifle, which would not be a welded receiver. SA inc. rifles are fine. Most BM59's and clones are pre-ban except for the recent post ban M1 garand receiver conversions and the recent Reese rifles that were released a couple years ago. No extra value for a Pre ban in my opinion. BM62's and 69's might have additional value because they are not on the forbidden list in some states like California. You could not own a BM59,because it is on the list, but a 62 or 69 would be legal. With a finite # of Berben/Benet imported 62/69's and a few SA inc put togethers,I could see where folks in CA might pay a premium for one.
  11. Greg what make barrel did you use for that build ?
  12. Greg are you going to offer a lower band that looks like a BM59 band that fits your BM59 barrel ? If so and it does not interfere with the op rod function it will be a winner no matter how it is attached. I measure on my barrel 1971 marked Silma from the face of the receiver to the beginning of the lower band boss on the barrel is about 9 1/2 " to 10 1/4" to the end . The boss area is about 3/4" in length eventhough not all of it is used. A new in the wrap Criterion Garand barrel measures 9 1/2 to 10 " from the face of the receiver to the beginning and end of the boss area for the lower band. Just for giggles I attempted to slide a BM59 band on the new Garand barrel and it would not attemp to go , so it appears that the OD of a Garand barrel is slightly larger in this area. The boss area on a standard Garand barrel is about 1/2" in length. My gas port is 15 1/4 " from the hole to the face of the receiver. I had mine cut down from whatever a standard length is to 17". Hope this helps.....
  13. John ,Tim uses carbide endmills. If I remember correctly they are wore out after only 2 receivers.
  14. Greg, I have a very similar build done by Shuff also. His work is some of the best I have seen.
  15. Sarco's mags come with some finish wear, but they are fully functional.
  16. Thanks Art ! That is something that I have not yet seen . The pouch holds 2 single mags ?
  17. SARCO would be a good place to check for the magazines. Congrats on your purchase! As you know by now the black rubber buttpad is the 1 weak spot on the BM62! I would refrain from modifying it, it will only destroy the value of such a nice and collectible rifle. I would look for a used BM59 stock and buttpad to use for casual use/shooting and leave the 62 stock and pad as is. The garand manuel would be fine to use, most of the parts are very similar or are the same.
  18. Art any chance of you posting some pics of the web gear for the magazines ?
  19. Do your aftermarket magazines have followers that are made of black plastic? This could be the source of your problem if so.Some magazines were made up with these black followers and some used M14 magazine springs. These magazines used original BM59 magazine bodies, but these made up mags did not function as well as the BM59 magazines. The spring in a BM59 magazine is very long , almost twice as long as the M14/G3 magazine springs. Hope this helps.....
  20. David, I have a BM59 standard stock available, feel free to email me if you are interested ? Mike
  21. Vic I mmust have missed that one! It looks as if it was a good manuel to have with good ,clear pictures.
