  1. When I got my NFA BM59 I bought 10 mags from SARCO .. all were in very nice condition..BUT.. the springs were a bit rusted on some.. nothing some steel wool and CLP could not fix. I did not want to use the 2 mags that came with the gun,, It was unfired.
  2. Yup.. It is there..If i remove it.. it will increase the cyclic rate?
  3. If the knitting needle is the pointed shaft that goes inside the Op Rod... yes i do. Is it the object that has a hook on the end? ?
  4. Could you please send pictures to darvish@swbell.net. In what state are you? Thanks Bill
  5. Thank you hawk.. I can envision exactly what you are talking about... I'll get some hi temp grease and do exactly that. Sounds like it will make a difference.
  6. I am using the mags with the stainless followers...SARCO has lots of them. I think I paid $39 each..
  7. The Form 4 came in after EIGHT MONTHS of waiting. Picked up my BM59 Sat. and went to the range early this morning.....This is a Springfield Armory BM 59.. I broke it down yesterday and cleaned it. I do not think it has ever been fired. Cosmoline on bipod and the sight. NO marks on the receiver from brass ejections and no burning of the wood... Pretty accurate on Semi Auto once zeroed. On full auto it was not even close to the handful I thought it would be. It may be my imagination ... but it seemed a lot more controllable than my M14. I will have to take them both for a side by side comparison. Quite a few failure to load. and one stove pipe...I do not think it likes full magazines and will load 18 next time. I think things will improve when it is broken in. I'm shooting Winchester White Box now. It actually attracted quite a crowd when all the M1 shooters found out it was NOT an M14!..
  8. Bill, Call 304-616-4500 and have serial number ready. Jim C Thank you very much........ Called at 0830 CDT... a very nice woman answered.. I gave her the SN and my name and she said it had been processed and sent to the examiner for a signature... about 3 more weeks!! YEEHAAWWW
  9. Pardon my ignorance... But every single NFA toy I have purchased in the past has been through a dealer... with no problems. My first form 4 came back in 6 weeks...that was about 10 years ago i guess..Times have steadily increased over the years as others have noted. I have been waiting 8 months now for a BM59 that is a person to person transfer....How can I find out whom to call to check on the status. Thanks Bill
  10. Thanks. I am using 30.06 right now... but finding it in bulk is getting harder and harder...Talked to the guys at Barrel Exchange at Knob Creek who have the 7.62x54R kits... Right now the 8mm is pretty cheap and plentiful and I am stocking up on it. I just wish there was an easier way to link it than the OOW linker!
  11. I have a 1919 with both the 8mm and 308 kit. Any instructions around to install the parts needed to use the kits? As I understand it.. besides the barrel.. with the 8mm you use the same forcing cone and use the 308 specific cone for that caliber.... I'm not sure what to do with the other pieces....Is head spacing the same for all calibers? Thanks.
  12. Mags are in from SARCO... they are VERY nice.
  13. Thanks. I spoke a tiny bit too soon...I assumed, since they are not on the web site of places like SARCO, they did not have them. Well folks.. They have 10 freaking THOUSAND. 49 USD each. All it took was an old fashioned phone call. I picked up 10.
  14. Hello All, Just paid for an NFA BM59 ( Springfield Armory). I am waiting for the form 4 to come back and have not found a place to buy extra mags. Went to " The Creek" for the fall shoot and came up empty handed. Is anyone interested in MAYBE signing a petition with the agreement to buy some if I could talk the good people up in Geneseo to possibly make a run of them?
  15. I would love to find a copy. But I am having no luck finding sources with it in stock. Any suggestions?
