  1. Thank everyone for your helpful advice! I did see the Taiwan drums listed on Google but wasn't sure if they would work. I will order one and give it a try. When I spoke to Kahr I was told they would not work on Est Hurley models or guns before 1990. I did find out my gun was made in 1986.
  2. Thank you very much! That really helps me know what parts will and won't work on the gun.
  3. I have a Thompson 1927A1 made in West Hurley and I am trying to find out when it was made. The serial number is 14981, and I inherited it from my Dad. If anyone has an idea on its age, or how to find out, I would be grateful. Also, I am looking to purchase an L Bridgeport drum magazine for the gun. There are new ones on the market, but most say they do not work with the West Hurley models. If anyone has one they would like to sell or know of someone wanting to sell, please let me know! Thank you! Phil
  4. I have a Thompson 1927A1 that I inherited, made in West Hurley, with an L drum made in Bridgeport. The drum does say patented, but there is no number. The serial number on the gun is 14891, but I have no idea when the gun was made. Would anyone have a feel for the age of the gun based on serial number? How difficult is it to find a replacement drum that would work on this model? From what I have read the newer parts you can find at SARCO and others don't work on West Hurley guns. Thanks for any help!
  5. Thanks to all of you for your help! I have gone ahead and ordered one and will give it a try when it arrives. My confusion came from the comments on most web pages that many of the more recent parts made by Thompson would not work on guns made in West Hurley (which is what I have). Can't wait to take it out to shoot!
  6. Hello, I have inherited a 1927A1 Thompson from my Dad and have a question. The round magazine says it is from Bridgeport and the model is a 1928 L for 50 rounds. It looks like I am missing the winding key for it, as well as the third hand I have read about. I know the newer Thompson parts for the most part will not work on West Hurley models, but does anyone know if the newer drum keys will work on an old Thompson? How about newer third hands? If not, is there any place I can go to try and find these parts? Thanks for your help! Phil
