  1. If people used the same effort they use to make scams for making more productive things we would be better off
  2. To give a brief (and as least politicized as possible) context, in July 7 1952, supporters of a political group assembled in the Mexico City Alameda (public park) to protest what seemed to be electoral fraud. During the altercation an alleged infiltrator shot the Chief of Grenadiers, which would lead to the grenadiers and police to open fire and throw tear gas at the multitude. This event would start the Mexican Dirty War. These unnamed grenadiers had these photos taken carrying M1A1 Thompsons. Found these photos while researching for some classes
  3. Still wouldn’t explain the bandages in the foregrip, which looks really goofy
  4. Yes he’s a great man, very knowledgeable
  5. After some time researching I got somewhere and I believe it’s as good as it’s going to get. I contacted the Athens War Museum as well as the Royal Armouries in the UK, I honestly thought they would not respond, yet they did and helped me out. From what it can be seen the 78B will usually mean the time of conscription, so the user was conscripted in the latter half of 1978. Now for the Greek words scratched, the consensus was that they spelled out ΔΗΜΟΣ (anglicized Demos or Dimos) which is a common name in Greece. So to summarize, the scratching was made by a man called Demos or Dimos who was conscripted in the latter half of 1978 as a probable NCO and issued the Thompson. Don’t know if they’ll see this but I would like to thank Theofanis Vlachos of the Athens War Museum and Jonathan Ferguson of the Royal Armouries for the help in research.
  6. Hello, just yesterday I got this 1928 Savage marked rear grip from Numrich to fit on my project, it’s used and probably has seen better days but it was a reasonable price. What did surprise me is that there were some letters scratched in the wood, and they were Greek. I did contact a buddy from Greece but he didn’t have much of a clue of what it could mean, though he did say the word resembled a mistranslated version of “given” in Greek. If anybody has any idea or leads that would be greatly appreciated
  7. The secret ingredient is crime Just kidding, I know what must be done which is a shame, taking the time to Reweld it only to castrate it, but it is what it is
  8. I have a hypothetical question, could it be possible to mix and match different sections of a demilled receiver between the 1928/a1 and M1/a1, of course I don’t mean the parts where the charging handle/actuator protrudes, more like where threaded nose piece or the rear section where the frame latch goes. Or if anyone has done it, is it doable? thank you
  9. That’s probably what I’m going to do, but I think it’s better if I first finish the lower frame, I don’t want jumble my priorities so hopefully in due time
  10. I hope you don’t take this as disrespectful but I have previously said that due to budget constraints I’m going one piece at a time, even if I had the money, RTI does not have any kits in stock
  11. Don’t know if you can point some out because I tried using every key word in the search and just the usual stuff appears, would be very grateful
  12. I got some blueprints for both the upper and lower if you’re interested, they are in my phone’s photo album
  13. Maybe, but I’m not as comfortable with trying to mill it, I’ve had previous bad experiences with 80% receivers. And I already had a heat sink/welding jig I bought years ago so it would feel like a waste if I don’t use it
  14. Hello, currently I am working on building a semi auto Thompson. Since parts kits are not viable or are too expensive, I’ve decided to go one piece at a time. Currently I am almost finished with the lower frame build, so I wanted to know where or from who I could be able to get demilled receiver. In most sites like apex they seem to be either missing the rear or nose section, or are in too bad of a shape since I’m a rookie are this. I’ve been thinking of getting an 80 from PhilaOrd but they’re not within my budget. Any help would be appreciated. thank you very much
  15. I see, how does one differentiate by the hole in the thumb end? Either way thank you very much
  16. Hello and thank you, here are the photos, hopefully they will suffice
  17. Hello, a couple of years ago I bout this spare parts set, it included the trigger, sear, sear lever, spring and magazine release, they were encased in a cosmoline tomb until now in which I’m working on a project. From what I saw in the stamps it seems to be a mix of Savage and Auto Ordinance, but the magazine release had a strange stamp I cannot recognize which sort resembles an I or an L; but I could be wrong, it could just be a savage mark that was deteriorated . Any help with this would be very appreciated
