The L drum is in overall fair to good condition, dent free, with worn places on the finish as well as numerous smaller scuffs. The finish appears to be original and does not appear to be painted like some I've seen. This is the drum I always used with my Thompson and it never gave me a single problem. The lower front reads WIND 9 OR 11 CLICKS with the Thompson logo above it. The upper front reads MAGAZINE TYPE "L" THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN 50 CARTRIDGES CAL .45 FOR 1928 MODEL WIND TO 9 OR 11 CLICKS The upper back reads AUTO-ORDNANCE CORP. BRIDGPORT, CONNECTICUT REGISTERED IN THE U.S. PATENT OFFICE A large letter "U" is located beneath the above. $400 shipped for my vintage L drum. Postal money order only.

  9. I have several original WWII era mags in good condition I'm going to sell, but I'm not clear on what price makes them move. These are Thompson mags.
  10. I probably know less about Thompsons than the vast majority of men here, but even I recognize those grips to be beyond jacked up. They almost hurt my eyes.
  11. Today I received notification that the post office attempted to deliver my thompson while I was away. I tracked down the mail deliverer up the road and brought the gun home. I sent PK an old mule of a '28 Thompson several months back, and he returned to me a race horse. The work this man does is brilliant, and I can't wait to try it out. Also, the man is fantastic to deal with. He kept me updated and always responded to any email I sent. Was it worth the wait? Every minute. Thanks PK.
  12. The agent told me that at one time his office had two, but one was recalled and "crushed" sometime in the past. He claims that the one he has access to is the last Thompson to have been used by an FBI agent to kill someone. I have no idea if that is true, but he is an agent.
  13. The lower case "I" in the thread title is rediculous, but I can't change it now.
  14. We had a robbery very recently, and as a result I had a conversation with an FBI agent tonight. The subject of Thompsons came up, and he mentioned that his office still has one. He stated he knows nothing about them, but he believes this one has "Navy and 1928" on it. He went on to say that this particular Thompson, which is in fantastic condition, was used to kill a bank robber in Knoxville years ago. Says all of it is documented, etc. As I was walking out of the office he stopped me. He said he liked my sincere interest in the Thompson, and then said he'd bring it by the station for me to look at. I'm going to pester him until he does, and then I'll report back with what I find out.
  15. All I've ever put through mine have been my handloads. But I will not allow anybody else's handloads to be used in it. Ever.
  16. It just dawned on me that I never took pre-PK photos of my gun. Not that it's all that hard to recall what a gun looks like with practically no finish left on it.
  17. Several days ago I received notification from PK that I finally made the top of the list. My old '28ac shipped out today for a tune up and some make up. The wait was twenty-four months, but it went by pretty quickly. My house feels oddly empty now.
  18. I started reloading three years ago on a borrowed Dillon 450. Three years later I've cranked out 30,000 rounds of ammo on a pair of Dillon 550s (one for large primer and one for small) which I would buy again if I had to start over. Press preference is secondary to always paying attention to what you're doing. Keep that in mind and you'll have success with whichever press you decide upon. But be very careful, or you may suffer my fate. I now cast my own bullets, which is almost as fun as shooting. And here's the best part. I can produce 1,000 rounds of pistol ammo, in this case .40 cal, for thirty-five bucks flat. Take your time, pay attention, and have fun.
  19. My 1928 ac serial number begins with 153, but I know it's not the highest by a good margin.
  20. I don't have a pic of the stock, although you can imagine how hard it is on the eyes with a silver dollar buried in it. This stock is the one that was originally attached to my Thompson, but the seller was kind enough to swap stocks when I bought it from him. Now he has no use for it, and I have no real interest in it beyond the hardware. I believe the silver dollar was added by a previous owner who happened to be involved in the Klan during the 50's and was investigated by the feds for possible involvement in a school bombing in Tennessee during the civil rights era.
  21. A friend wants to sell me the above stock as a spare, and we don't know what it's worth. The wood is ruined but worth at least a buck because it has a silver dollar displayed in the side of it. I've never seen a tackier looking thing before.
  22. My AO 1928ac happens to be 153076X and supposedly came from the Tennessee Highway Patrol. The gun is sporting an adjustable Lyman sight and a finned barrel, neither of which I believe are original to the gun. But it does have a matching upper and lower. And, happily, it is making its way toward the top of PK's list for some TLC.
  23. He must sell plenty of them because he never bothered to respond to my email when I was shopping for a Thompson.
  24. I need to purchase a very nice pit and rust free, original finned 1928 barrel. It will be reblued so I'm not very concerned with the finish. Please send me a PM if you have one for sale. Thanks.
