yes Lionhart... ..import marked all over it "ONYX HLN MT."Onyx out of Montana......imported new in 1985........DOES ANYONE HAVE Ian Skennerton's book SLR? Ian says and i quote "rifle is described and illustrated on pages 63-67 in the US section The L1A1A was the special export model from Lithgow to suit ATF requirements. Most were 1985, hence SAF 85 xxxxx serial number" I don't have the book yet but i'm gonna get it soon....

What year did the import ban come into effect anyways? was it 1986? is there a list of the guns that can't be imported or a list that can be imported? anyone know the details on that deal? Reason i ask is i have an L1A1 that was imported from the S.A.F in Lithgow Australia...i was told there was only158 of these rifles that made it to the USA....and according to my serial number the gun was built in 1985 and is what we always use to call preban of course...anyone sharp on FALS and L1A1 that knows anything about this please get with me on it...from what i understand originally this gun "was" identical to the Australian L1A1 service rifles except having the semi-auto mods to receiver and bolt for the BATF and had a lacquer finish instead of the normal creosote soaking for the wood funiture.

Thanks Bill....Many Thanks......just wanted to know i was right on that....ALOT of people are thinking that they can just throw anything together now when in fact they still have to have the magical number of USA made parts......i bet alot of folks are gonna be getting in hot water over that....The AWB website and others needs to make this clear...the way the media and kerry etc is going on and on about how anyone can get anything now and theres no laws reguarding it is leading people to trouble....in which i'm afraid will spur another BAN....people need to be educated so it don't come back to bite us....i can't wait to see what the market does..what all and for how much....its gonna be fun...but i think we need to make the best of it because i'm afraid it'll be back and worse...but i'll tell you one thing...there will be NO mr and mrs america turn it all in at my place....that'll be war

lol jw.....28/48......times wasting alright.....i feel older and older faster and faster.....just found out lastnight that wife is prego.....thats gonna make 3 kids around here now...step son is 8 "hers"....my son is 4 "mine" and now we find out that in april we'll have another "ours"........and boy did i screw that one up....april??? holy smoke...probley knock me out of going to knobs april shoot!!! i should have planned that better!!! we need to figure out a day on a weekend pretty soon when i can come up and do some shooting with you at knob...bring my new .50 rifle for us to play with and maybe an old bolt rifle so we can have some plinking contest or something...email me if ya want ibewolfer@aol.com .....we'll figure something out....planning on being at the fall shoot aswell

well....i see what your saying....but if they do ban them? my guess is they'd probley add them in under NFA and have an amesty or something like that......i collect guns..mainly military style rifles...i'm in a dead rush to get ALL they'll allow us to legally own before things get worse.....mainly in a rush to pile up all the guns they see as BAD first...aka .50 cal rifles....all the assult rifles such as ar's ak's fal's...etc...etc....because you know as well as i do...not to trust our goverment.....because if a true marksman..someone who can really use and deploy some of the currant guns we are allowed to have right now goes on a rampage...for example.....someone that can make consistant hits at long ranges with a .50....is gonna bring havok and its gonna get real ugly and you know as well as i do....first thing they are gonna do is start taking more of our rights..so far and knock on wood and cross our fingers nobody has went out with a .50 and plinked on people at say...1500 yards and poked holes in the swats little armored cars etc etc and when it happens they'll have to call in the military to handle it....and the first thing thats gonna be asked on TV is why can a weapon like this be had even legally by any joe blow and there goes another squeeze on our gun rights......i know i'm rambling on and should be out shooting but i worry about our gun rights and i always wanna try to be one step ahead...until this country figures out that bans and restrictions just take away from the good people and make it easier for the criminals that give a shit to begin with...i think we all need to worry more and push harder and harder to keep our rights....i have a wife and kids and i want to be able to protect them and my property and enjoy the sport of shooting and collecting history and i want them to be able to do the same and not be armed with an airsoft when a criminal has an uzi or something

oh i'm not confused......when i bought my stripped olympic lowers the gun shop had to list what the caliber of the gun was....why? well...i'm not sure....ar lowers are used in many differant caliber rifle....223,762x39....etc etc etc....making them as stated on the side of the lower itself multi caliber......if the number on my guns are run will they come back as an ar-15 in 223? i'm sure they will...why else would they have asked? i totally understand what your saying though.....i'm not claiming to KNOW for SURE....just what happens when i go to buy one....on the reg don't it say what caliber the gun is? example smith & wesson .38 or colt 1911 .45 etc etc .....i'd like someone to explain it to me also....lets say they ban .50 rifles....how would they regulate it? how would it affect all these .50 cal uppers for ar lowers? anyone here know anyone thats with FCSA? i'm sure they know when it comes to .50's

well..a springfield armory....6-24x50 is what i'm looking at....roughly $650....i've had good luck with SA .....i hadn't fooled with "real" good rings in a long time....so opinions on whats best these days would be great help

when you go buy an ar-15 lower they ask you what caliber the gun will be...ar lowers are multi caliber....such as my olympic lower its marked on the side "cal. multi 2003" thats my understanding...anyone have more of the details on this?

the standard mag it come with holds 3 rounds and they make an optinal 5 round mag you can buy....i believe the 5 round mag sales for $125.....i bought and paid for my .50 upper back when they was $1750...since they raised the price to $1850....i paid an extra $25 to have HAVE A NICE DAY engraved on the muzzle brake and paid $25 for shipping.....so...$1800 and it was in my hands.....add a $100 lower and whatever for a bipod and scope....pretty dang good for a mag fed bolt rifle....and let me just tell you about the recoil!!! it is sooooo light!!! honestly...my old single shot 12 guage kicks harder with light loads!! i couldn't believe it....you can shoot this gun like a pistol...no joke! i'm very very happy so far...
