My 1921 Thompson is in jail, waiting for approved Form 4. Yesterday, they had a fire which has closed the business. The fire started on the rifle range when some bonehead fired tracers into the shredded tire backstop (is there no lower limit on stupidity?) From the media pictures, it looks like the front portion of the building where the offices and guns are is intact, so Im (wishfully) thinking my gun is OK, though possibly exposed to water. Ive got a call in for the Class III manager to get more information, but meanwhile a few questions: 1. Is the dealer financially responsible for buyers property being held on their premises for transfer, gunsmithing, etc? 2. My intent is to demand to inspect my gun, and clean it if necessary. Hopefully today, as rust can form quickly. If he says no, can I involve the police, or will an attorney have to be hired? 3. Is there any (good) reason to involve ATF? No doubt theyve been notified by now by the dealer or local cops. 4. Should I get the dealer to Form 3 my Tommy to another SOT? Or will that reset the Form 4 transfer clock? ATF cashed the check in October. Any advice or experience others have had is welcomed. This is the sort of circumstances that can become a bureaucratic nightmare.

It seems to me that at some point, there was a good discussion here of insurance options for our favorite firearm, but I can't find it now for the life of me. I presently have a USAA Valuable Personal Property, but I'm not satisfied. It seems likely to be costing more than it needs to and I don't like the tone of the communications I'm getting. I normally trust USAA very much but on this issue they aren't giving me the usual warm and fuzzies, and they don't always seem to know what their own policies are. So I'd be very interested in hearing fom y'all about where you have coverage, what it's costing you and how you like your provider. I hope the thread will be useful for others who come along later with similar questions. Thanks! Bob Bethune

Hey Guys, I hope everybody is doing well. I'm fishing for information and advice on my guns. Of course, if you own one thompson and it is stolen or burned, your typical homeowner policy will not be enough to replace it. I'm asking what everybody else has done to get proper insurance on such items. Any help, advice, recommendations, tips etc. will be appreciated. And bad experiences if any. Thanks.

I'm looking for a fully professsional, formal appraisal, conducted to Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) standards, preferably by someone accredited or cerified by one of the "big four" appraiser's associations. Has anyone worked with an appraiser who operates at that level? I'd be very interested to hear about your experience. Thanks!
