Unidentified Bolt....

Recommended Posts

Looks just like an MP40 bolt, however, it has a fixed firing pin. Bolt handle is on the left side, so it's not a Star Z-45. Can't figure it out. It's completely unmarked. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Edited by billie32

A photo would help greatly but from your description it sounds like a Portuguese Model 48 FBP. These when used with a FBP recoil spring tube will work in most MP40s.

There were a handful of late model MP40's that had a fixed firing pin and utilized a cut-down MG-34 (MG-42?) recoil spring. I verified one about 30 years ago on display. There is also mention of one in a biography of a WWII US infantry man who had one on the Siegfried line... he said it fired erratically, and faster than a "normal" MP40.
