TopN
The Italian BM59 Sling has been mentioned here before this, but I thought I'd add some pictures, along with a general description. The BM59 Sling is a very loose weave when compared to a US M1/M14 Web Sling, and is noticeably lighter in weight. It is mustard colored, and about 47" long. It has 3 sets of 2 brass rivets in set into the Sling at 20.5", 24.75" & 29.25" from the Tip. These are used for aiming indirect rifle grenade fire. The Tip is riveted to the BM59 Sling. US Sling Tips are crimped onto the Web Sling. The metal parts are generally of a lighter gauge than those of a US Web Sling. The 1st Pic shows from top to bottom: a BM59 Sling NIW, a new unwrapped BM59 Sling & a front/back showing the brass rivets set into the BM59 Sling. The other pics compare BM59 Sling parts to the corresponding M1/M14 Sling parts. TopN
