cubguy
If a person buys a machine gun can it be sent to a class 3 dealer to be worked on while your transfer is pending? It seems to be legal from what I read on the BATFE site.
The1930sRust
Yes. When I bought my M1, I had the owner ship it off for some work while it was in transfer. It was finished before the transfer was approved, and had to (obviously) be mailed back to the owner. R
The Lone Ranger
If it is actually broken and being repaired, yes. Incumbent in "temporary conveyance" is a return to the registrant. Some people will tell you it can lawfully be used to circumvent the wait while an application is processed - but it puts your firearm at risk. Not worth it IMO. The1930sRust
Listen to the Lone Ranger. Mine wasn't broken, and was purely cosmetic enhancement. R
The Lone Ranger
Sorry - by broken, I meant actually being worked on, although I have never seen the agency opine on cosmetic enhancement under the NFA for the no-tax provision it would constitute "gunsmithing" in the GCA. That opinion and $5 will get you a designer coffee.
