michaelkih
I have that Colt BAR coming in, and would like to buy some ammo to shoot through it. What brands do you recommend? Any good quality surplus out there? Thank you!
MG34bar
Hi Michael, In my experience none of the US BARs are "picky" about ammo (unlike the M1 Garand). I shoot mostly the CMP issued Greek 30/06 ammo that is still available from them. I've also shot rather warm commercial hunting loads with heavy bullets (180-220 gr.) without any damage or problems with the guns. The straight operating rod/piston/slide of the BAR, together with the adjustable gas system does not have the "twisting" problem of the M1/M14. As far as finding inexpensive (but good quality) ammunition that can be difficult. Joe
Paladin601
Depends where you live. If in a high Fire area, do not use the greek stuff, may start a fire (they say). Or you could swap bullets on the Gree M2 stuff, then sell the pulled bullets. Try the Privi Partisan, good stuff at a reasonable price.
michaelkih
Thanks. I see Wideners selling surplus POF, and their review of it makes it sound amazing. It's from Pakistan though, so I figure it's gotta be crap. Mike
