MG08
The question I would ask is "why" ? I have never seen or heard of a buttstock cover for any US rifle. Or foreign one for that matter. Action covers but not a butt plate /stock one. Does not look " USGI" either.

dalbert
Larry, I need to look for this item in my books. I'll get to it by the weekend. What are you going to do with it? David Albertdalbert@sturmgewehr.com

dalbert
Hi David I don’t know, maybe buy an M2 to go with it, lol Hope you had a great thanksgiving! Thanks, we did have a great Thanksgiving. I hope you can say the same. I found the butt stock cover on page 1362 of War Baby III, by Larry Ruth. He indicates that it is speculated they were used to protect M1 Carbine butts when they were carried in gun racks or shipping crates. Some are stamped inside with the Winchester logo. The laces are supposed to be either black woven cord without end tabs, or black shoe laces with end tabs. Did you check for a marking on the inside? MG08
Well, Seems we learn something new all the time. I will have to go read up on these. Still does not make sense to have a butt cover, but then I guess it is always good to cover your butt.....
