M40scoutsniper
Good evening! I found something rather odd and I’m not quite sure what it is. I recently picked up an oiler for just a couple bucks and I thought it was a refinished Thompson 1928 oiler. Today I placed it side by side to one of the re-plated “1921” oilers that Apex has been selling. It has a “cool” (chrome?) plating on it where the Apex oiler is more of a “warm” nickel. It is also considerably shorter than the Thompson oiler and another original 28 oiler I have. I have no doubt the cap above the nozzle has been refinished as the ridged texture is gone but the plating shows no wear. The actual nozzle portion still has it’s gasket. I saw another post with a similar sized oiler but with the more common black “crackle” finish that accompanied a UD-42 in France. 🤷🏻♂️ Thanks everyone!
