Fitting Current Model TM-1 Upper to USGI Lower (For Blank Fire USE Onl

Recommended Posts

I'm a WW 2 re-enactor and would love to have a full auto, blank fire only Thompson. I am curious if it is possible to fit a Kahr TM-1 upper to an actual USGI lower. I have an ATF approved blank fire only barrel (made by Howell Arms) which I would have welded onto the upper receiver. Can anyone provide any thoughts or suggestions? Thank you.

Manufacturers have gone to great lengths at ATF insistence to make sure that semi auto parts are not compatible with full auto parts. There's a very nice alternative, though:

I have one and it's great. I'm very pleased with it.

Look up the contact phone number on the website and give a call. Bob is very good about answering his phone, but he can get inundated with email. The phone is the best way to order blanks, too.

Right, the "gun" takes original 20 & 30 rd. magazines, and one magazine is included with the purchase. Here are a few pics of my Phila. Ord. M1A1 BFONG blank gun, and the blanks:

I too have one of Bob's amazing Thompsons.

Blanks are proprietary, for now. He is working on making them work with regular .45acp blanks upon ATF approval.

If you already have a FA lower you can purchase just an upper from him. He makes both the M1 and the M1928 versions.
