UK Armourer
Guys, I just got to know that the Italian Ministry of Defense has now decided to allow the sale of BM-59's and Tipo (Type) 1 & 2 M1 Garand rifles to the general public (if licenced). The BM-59's have the full auto trip and selector removed and the pivot ground off to allow the sale. Have a look at the hundreds ready to be sold at a dealer in Italy I know... There are US Springfield & Winchester M1's converted to BM-59's as well as Beretta M1's converted and new build Beretta BM-59's! If only ;-) ciao Vic Edited March 25, 2016 by UK Armourer
hawksnest
Just imagine what each pallet would be worth in USA if they were transferables!
John Ryan
The whooshing noise you hear is Mike Baker booking a ticket to Italy and a container home. Seriously though, Tipo's 1 & 2 should be importable over here in the US. I'd rather have those than those Korean M1's. Frenchkat
Looks like they ended up at Sarco and Centerfire. Sarco is advertising new Italian barrels and soon to have receivers. Anybody have a clue who might be converting M1 receivers for Sarco?
John Ryan
Tony Giacobbe " The Garand Guy" may know. He sells BM59 E models. http://garandguy.com/ I don't know if he does the receiver mods though. Schuffs did one for me. http://shuffsparkerizing.com/bm59-program/ SIDE BAR.... I'm not sure how I feel about mag fed Garands flooding the market. I liked that it was a commitment to get or build one. JR
Frenchkat
I'm familiar with both, I've hadTony do stuff for me in the past. And yes, he does his mods.
UK Armourer
Guys, are Sarco's BM59 barrels genuine or new manufacture? Vic
John Ryan
They are all kinds of surplus. http://www.e-sarcoinc.com/bm59-world.aspx JE
Frenchkat
According to their add, New Production barrels cut with the simplified front band that pins on. Sound like the Standard Parts barrels. It does look like they have original Type I & II (E Model) barrels for $135. Doesn't appear to me that they are going to have the 19.5" original barrels. The person who does the mods for Tony actually approached me as well, to both sell me the receiver and do the mods. This only matters to a very few people though. What I wanted to say is that many of us got these kits, not just the big players. I even got the kits You can also find them at Standard Parts and The Stock Emporium. http://shuffsparkerizing.com/bm59-program/
Frenchkat
Thanks for the update. I thought Tony did his own, if I'd known earlier, I might have made different choices. Lots of chatter over on barfcom, lots of misinformation also.
sprat
do not know if its against the rules but I have been following this thread on these http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1860218_ITALIAN_BM59_kits_hitting_surplus_market_.html&page=
