Maxim Silencer...?
Mike-Tornado Technologies replied to The1930sRust's topic in What Is It? - Ask the Firearm Experts Forum
Those are what the Maxim 1923 baffles look like. They have not had a projectile strike. -
Unfortunately not. They're not even close, completely different outside and inside diameters.
-
In the print you have, if the cocking handle slot runs out the end of the receiver, then the print is one that's been floating around for a long time and is not even close to the original. The original factory drawings don't call it a receiver, they will call it the "body". We have pretty well most of the factory drawings for the parts, but we're not willing to share them at this time.

Exporting NFA To Another Country
Mike-Tornado Technologies replied to Haenelistklasse's topic in Class III Forum
We regularly export firearms internationally. Current US State Department Policy does not allow the permanent export of machineguns to those other than Government end users. Tanks and live artillery are OK though. I'm sure there are exceptions made in some circumstances, but if I tried to put an application through for your situation, there's no way they'd approve it. As others have mentioned, you'd be better to cash out here and buy what you need there. -
That's exactly what I was thinking. We've done it before on other guns with damaged chambers and it's worked fine. I'm not seeing any damage to the chamber, so assuming it is a manufacturing defect. We tried Swiss Gecco, Federal 9mm and British MK2Z and none of them would chamber properly. A 9mm headspace gauge won't go in either so that's pretty conclusive.

I have an original STEN MkIII with an extremely tight chamber. Unlike our STEN MkII and every other 9mm SMG we have, a round will not seat fully in the chamber. You have to push it in to fully seat it, then it needs to be levered out. The chamber is clean and free from burrs. I get the feeling that it might have left the factory that way, as the gun is very clean and has seen little use. Testing with Dykem shows the chamber too small near the rifling. The above problem causes stovepipe jams. You can't get through a mag without dozens of jams. I was debating taking a 9mm chamber reamer and trying to fix the chamber, but as the barrel is fixed in the MKIII I'd have to go through the back and use a T-handle extension - and of course the ejector is in the way. In the MkIII it's riveted in place, so I'd have to remove that rivet. Rather not do that unless I have to. Suggestions anyone?

Yeah, sorry about that. Been extremely busy with business. I've been slowly compiling reference material. Had 2 trips to SAF Lithgow in the last few years, and was able to photograph an extremely rare example in an Australia Police reference collection I was granted access to. I was wanting to publish but haven't decided on the best place. At this point I've actually got enough reference material for a book. Generally speak I'd like to keep that stuff unpublished for the moment, but here's something to tide you over in the mean time from a photo shoot we did several years ago. http://www.tornado-technologies.com/SA/ANZAC2015/OMC01.jpg http://www.tornado-technologies.com/SA/ANZAC2015/OMC02.jpg http://www.tornado-technologies.com/SA/ANZAC2015/OMC03.jpg http://www.tornado-technologies.com/SA/ANZAC2015/OMC05.jpg http://www.tornado-technologies.com/SA/ANZAC2015/OMC06.jpg http://www.tornado-technologies.com/SA/ANZAC2015/OMC07.jpg http://www.tornado-technologies.com/SA/ANZAC2015/OMC08.jpg http://www.tornado-technologies.com/SA/ANZAC2015/OMC09.jpg http://www.tornado-technologies.com/SA/ANZAC2015/OMC10.jpg http://www.tornado-technologies.com/SA/ANZAC2015/OMC11.jpg -
How many transferable Owens in the US?
Mike-Tornado Technologies replied to opherhenry's topic in The Owen Gun Message Board
I know of at least 12 C&R transferables, including a MkII trials gun, and another 4 transferable tube guns. I suspect there's probably a lot more than that out there. They're something people tend to hang onto as they're so unique. It never ceases to amaze me what can come out of the woodwork. I'd all but given up on finding a pre or post sample Australia F1, then was amazed to see one show up at auction when Evergreen Aviation folded. A transferable to boot. Unfortunately is sold for way out of my price range at auction. But gee, who'd have thought a transferable amnesty register F1 would show up.
