This Ain't Your Grandpa's BAR

Recommended Posts

Because they can. BARs were good guns in their day - they had limitations, but they are far surpassed by modern technology. and a semi only is a waste of time.

MG,

I think that OOW is trying to promote the new variation as a sniper rifle, not a SAW.

Every one who owns a 1918A3 rave about the accuracy, so maybe it would have some value.

They say in the article the weight has been reduced to 12 pounds. Also incorporated are a manual bolt hold-open (fires semi-auto from a closed bolt), revised magazine release, hydraulic buffer, and an adjustable trigger (from 3.5 to 7 pounds).

The concept looks a lot like the 'Jungle BAR' devised by Major H.L. Smith, USMC in 1932, described here in the 3rd paragraph: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1918_Browning_Automatic_Rifle#Variants_and_subsequent_models
