bic69scj
Guys maybe I missed something but I have not seen any discussion about doing trigger work on Thompsons nor have I been able to find any information on trigger group disassembly. My rifle has a trigger pull of between 8.5 and 9 pounds which I consider to be pretty heavy. I'd like to lighten it up some but since i am not a gunsmith I'd like some input before I get into any modifications. Additionally the trigger has a long pull before it breaks. Anyone have any information on these issues?
halftrack
Is your weapon new? The reason I ask is because mine became much better over time and use.
deerslayer
You need the long trigger pull for safety sake. The parts like the firing pin have a great deal of slop in their travel. Any attempt yo lesson the travel of the sear or reduce the amount on engagement will be bad. You will either getting doubling or jams if the firing pin lets go. You can remove the trigger spring and the sear spring and find replacements and lighten the pull a little bit, I tried it and it worked a little bit but again I felt it was creating an unsafe situation. The assembly is nothing like a normal rifle hammer type function.
