  1. The parts with “excessive” material, can they be saved by removing the excess?
  2. This is one of I believe 12 Thompson’s that was loaned or given to the Huey Long detail that are now part of the LANG museum collection at Jackson Barracks. Some went underwater from Katrina. And yes, some have missed matched parts now.
  3. So, looking at the first picture, US troops were issued Thompson’s with vertical foregrips? I assume those are not colts?
  4. What if the OEM produces same part, is it still considered a reproduction? Is it years gone by that determines whether or not something is a reproduction? What about ownership of prints or company name? I would argue the above rules (self imposed as it may be) would allow for an OEM to produce a new batch of parts or items and not fall in the above described category of a reproduction.
  5. Lol just couldnt help myself! I knew it was more about the M1 in the pic then the helmet.
  6. I dont believe the helmet worked in this case. Just a lucky soldier.
  7. Update: Wrote a letter to accompany the transfer explaining there were no DD qualified dealers in my area other than DOD manufacturers. Transfer went through without a hitch. Took less than two weeks. Now the long wait with transferring it to me from my SOT dealer.
  8. I posted this in the DD forum but dont know how often people look at that. Need some guidance or help with this. Bought a M203 out of TX. I live in LA. There are no qualified FFL type 9, 10, or 11 that can do the transfer in my area. The seller is insisting on one of those type license holders for the transfer. I thought the BATF would allow a local SOT to do the transfer of none are available in my state. Should I insist the seller use the SOT and see what happens or what are my options? Let the BATF refuse then Call the reviewer? Any help would be much appreciated.

  10. What about Philadelphia Ordnance? They make receivers, they cant repair as well? I thought Rob mentioned he can do repairs as well.
  11. If you are looking at it as an investment, then no, dont shoot it. But obviously financially you are doing ok otherwise you would of not of bought it. I would shoot and enjoy it. You live once, and to think you bought a material object and not be able (or want to) to enjoy the fruits of your labor seems kind of counterintuitive. So what if you put a little wear on the gun. In the grand scheme of life, who cares.
  12. I assume the go-no go gauge shown as an example was used for the locking slot in the receiver for the blish lock lugs?
  13. These just arrived today! I have been putting it off. Better late than never I guess.
  14. Not mine. Is it a real one? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-1921-Thomspon-Carry-Bag-Case-M1928-USMC-WW2-WWII-colt-Marine-Corps-/373743096141?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0
  15. I see now, duh! It would make sense that it could possibly be a 3 mag pouch holder, considering he has a 30 rd mag in his Thompson.
