AZDoug
I sent my 1928A1 Savage to Paul Krough to replace the the pitted, dark bore, pregnant (bulged) barrel and fix the failure to fire issue. Turned out the old barrel chamber was badly worn, causing the light FP strikes, which the new barrel solved. The barrel is a new production barrel by PK, (not Numrich), turned to match the finned original barrel profile exactly. The nice, beautiful, clean shiny bore is impressive and indescribably better that the bore on the new paperweight sitting on my desk! The park job on the new barrel matched the receiver so close, that unless you knew the barrel was a replacement, you wouldn't know it. JimFromFL
Let us know how accurate the new barrel is. I wonder if PK can modify the barrel with the thick flat fins to be thin and rounded.
First Sergeant
In my last correspondence with PK he mentioned he was also working on 1921 barrels. Sounds like he's got the 28's ready. I'm sure they are a work of art like everything else he touches. Keep up the good work Paul. Chuck
JimFromFL
Forgot to ask.... what is the cost?
PK.
This project is still in the works, Doug got one of the “first articlesâ€. Pricing is not set, nor are parts in stock. I am very busy otherwise and have not been able to put the required effort into getting these ready for release, but I hope that by the first of the year they will be in stock in all standard configurations, and special orders easily accommodated. Thanks for the interest. PS Jim; they shoot great! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif
AZDoug
QUOTE (JimFromFL @ Oct 27 2005, 05:08 AM) Let us know how accurate the new barrel is. Accurate? i never thought of putting a TSMG on paper, as the shear number of bullets make up for the inherent inaccuracy of a rattlegun. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif It has to be better than the ringed one that came off. Grey Crow
Flip the selective fire paddle to semi, and see what you can do. I got bored at 25 - 50 and 100 yards, started to shoot a 3/4" steel plate at 125 yards, you shoot wait a second and hear the Ting! You just might be surprised at how accurate the Thompson really is. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif
AZDoug
QUOTE (Grey Crow @ Oct 27 2005, 07:53 PM) Flip the selective fire paddle to semi, Selector lever.... Set to semi... What a novel concept! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/tongue.gif Actually, other than an M-16, i just use trigger finger fire control and single/double tap and leave it in the FA mode on a slow firing gun like a '28 or Sten, or grease gun.
