Bridgeport28A1
Any ideas on what a fair price would be to ask for a complete Savage 28A1 lower with a British modified buttstock. I have looked at Gunbroker and a few other places like Omega Weapons Systems and IMA but the British buttstock is hard to find a comparison for. I am interested in keeping the two items together. Has anybody observed the spliced in wood pieces that I may only assume was to prevent the buttstock from cracking. http://i1098.photobucket.com/albums/g374/TW56/Savage%201928A1%20lower%20with%20British%20buttstock/IMG_0440.jpg http://i1098.photobucket.com/albums/g374/TW56/Savage%201928A1%20lower%20with%20British%20buttstock/IMG_0444.jpg http://i1098.photobucket.com/albums/g374/TW56/Savage%201928A1%20lower%20with%20British%20buttstock/IMG_0441.jpg http://i1098.photobucket.com/albums/g374/TW56/Savage%201928A1%20lower%20with%20British%20buttstock/IMG_0443.jpg Slideshow link: http://s1098.photobucket.com/user/TW56/slideshow/Savage%201928A1%20lower%20with%20British%20buttstock Thanks, Ross Edited September 28, 2014 by Bridgeport28A1
reconbob
I have never seen a stock with those angular inserts at the front.... Anyway, there is the sell-it-right-away price, and the I'll-wait-and-get-top-dollar price. This is an interesting stock, but it is in rough condition. I'd say sell-right-away $400,top dollar $500-up. This is for the trigger frame and stock together. Of course, this is only my opinion... Bob Edited September 25, 2014 by reconbob
Mk VII
It's a common repair on British guns and quite within the abilities of a properly trained armourer.

dalbert
Yes, the repairs to this stock are characteristic of British Commonwealth armorer repairs. I have an example of similar repairs on a different firearm made at Ishapore Arsenal in India during WWII.
