bob241
I purchased on line, A 1928A1 barrel with the receiver nose attached, the barrel had the normal marking for a 1928A1 barrel, such as a round s, a o between the first two fins, a pinned comp, a index mark, but what was odd, on the top of the barrel instead of the normal P with a dot in the P, the barrel is marked on top with XP with a dot in the P lupe. any idea what the X is for, The barrel is in nice shape, bore is great, finish about 70%. 1952HRA
Post a picture when you get a chance, I'm not sure why there would be an x do the x and p look like they were both stamped at the same time?
bob241
The X seems to be added later, as it is slightly larger, and the stamp is lighter than the P
reconbob
. Its so easy to stamp a letter on a barrel - or anything for that matter - that it couldhave beeb done by anyone, at any time, anywhere. I have never seen this mark.My only concern would be if it was marked X because there is somerging wrongwith it. Bob
