  1. I thought the same, does anyone have any more history or knowledge on either of those? Here is an old Post about the tank mounted Thompson http://www.machinegunboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10937
  2. I believe it's 1930 although it does kinda look like 1980
  3. From what I can find the picture is of Marines from company A of the 1st Marine Tank Battalion next to there M3 Stuart light tank near the river Tenaru on the Guadalcanal, yeah at the beginning of WW2 Thompson where shipped with each tank that is why there is so many Thompson parts in Russia because we sent them Sherman tanks and they didn't like/didn't have ammo for the Thompsons so they just put them in storage
  4. If it comes down to it I would do what Ron suggested, put some lapping compound on the threads and run the barrel in and out of the receiver a couple times (that's the process of barrelling bolt guns and M14 style semi autos with tight threads so I wouldn't see why it wouldn't work for a Thompson)
  5. I don't even know what to say about that, either the seller is really dumb or just doesn't care if they go to prison, and from California!
  6. Jim C I believe your correct about the snap I didn't even catch that, even if that is USGI it would probably be mid 50s or later
  7. The mag looks like a M14 mag, the mag pouch is a M1 garand double clip pouch, not 100% sure but i believe they were made during WW2 and maybe Korean war, is there any markings on the back or inside the flap of the mag pouch?
  8. Thanks for the help guys, so it's like I suspected it's probably just a surplus Russian pouch that someone stamped with USMC markings to try and increase value
  9. Hears a picture, it's definitely a Thompson mag pouch, the USMC marked one is on the left
  10. It's got a faint smell of old canvas (it smells the same as all my WW2 and Korean war belts and pouches) but other than that I can't smell any ink or anything, I don't have that much knowledge on this stuff but judging by the feal and smell I think the pouch it's self is original but the lettering is what is throwing me off
  11. Yeah that's what I was kinda thinking, hopefully someone others chime in with there thoughts
  12. The reason I'm questioning whether they are really USMC pouches is because of the spacing between the U.S. and M.C., I've never seen any with that much space between them, I did look them up a while back and the manufacturer is one of the manufacturers that made USMC pouches so hopefully someone has an answer
  13. I bought a couple mag pouches a few years back and 2 of them are marked USMC and I was wondering if anybody can tell me if they are original USMC pouches? I'm 99% sure they are real pouches I'm just not sure if they are original USMC or if someone marked them USMC to try to increase value or something, if I remember correctly they were shipped from somewhere in Europe. Thanks for the help
  14. The USMC pouches look repro to me and the mags are overpriced IMO. I could be wrong. I buy most of my NIW mags for $50 and under. Eric I kinda thought it was over priced but I live in a state where they are illegal for being "high capacity mags" so I don't really follow prices on them, as for the mag pouches I wasn't sure if they where repro or not
