Medea Greasegun Listed

How in the world did the aftermarket Grease guns go from $10,000 a couple of years ago to over $17,000? Some dealer was selling a transferable GL M1A1 for 20k and rumor has it that he sold it for that price. Since most of the GL M3A1 greasers are pre may dealer samples that sort of goes with the supply and demand theory. But, does one think for a minute that there are so few Media M3A1 grease guns out there in the transferable market to justify the asking price which includes the dealer mark up...

According to my dealer, who is Medea Corp, they only made around 50 transferrable registered receivers prior to the 1986 ban. They made a few dealer samples also. The thing to look for when considering a Medea M3A1 is the quality of the welds. Medea did not sell any completed guns, they left the completion up to the buyer. The better the weld the more expensive the price. Should a C&R GL or Ithaca be more expensive? Absolutely. But the Medea guns are rare.

That may be as your dealer stated, but it seems that the internet sellers seem to pull their prices from out of their hat. This same guideline seems to have hit the Thompson market a couple of years ago with the West Hurleys trying to keep pace with the original TSMGs. Anyway, it is an open market and buyer beware as the Grease gun prices will soon level off just like all the rest of the NFA stuff has for the most part. Even some dealers do not advertise correctly as we were in the market for a Pre May sample GL M3A1. One dealer advertised one for $8,500, sent photos and it turned out to be an Ithica even though it was listed as a GL. One dealer wanted to sell a Pre May GL M3A1 for 10k, advertising it as like new, like a new what? There is another gentleman that has a GL DS listed for $7,600 with a can an a bunch of mags which are cheap and plentiful for the most part. Any logic to that bunch of pricing? Better to buy with your head than your heart. I paid $8,995 for a Pre May A/O 1928A1 with a Seymore L drum in 12/04, now that was a good deal. Since greed never takes a day off, no wonder the prices are what they are in the transferable market, just look at the UZI and Mac market...
