Reising M50

I'm getting ready for the arrival of my M50, it's in the pending mode.

I've procured a replacement titanium firing pin and a Wolff spring set for the internals. Does any one offer replacement 20 round mag springs?

I cleaned up my mags and it seems that the Reising mag springs are not nearly as strong as my Thompson mag springs, is that normal?

Thanks,

Darryl

From what I can remember, I don't think they are as strong as the Thompson springs ( I think they may even be a smaller wire diameter?? ). I have heard talk of people taking a Thompson mag spring and cutting it down, but I have no experience at that. Try them out first and see how they work, but I will tell you this:

I have 2 M50's and 3 M60's and not all the mags work in all the guns. This mag may run excellent in this gun, won't run worth a crap in that one, and runs OK in another one.

That's not what I wanted to hear, I guess no one makes replacement springs.

Thanks for the info,

Darryl

Well...

I have a M50 and a M55 and , oh , 25-30 mags. About 4-6 12 rounders , 4 30-rounders , the rest orig. 20-rounders. I have not had a chance to try out the last 6 I picked up at the Dec. SAR show , but the others work good in both guns. The 30-rounders I only load to 28 , and I don't use them much because they seem to be too long and always get in the way. Why I find this so , I have no idea , because the 30-rounders in the Thompsons or the Greaseguns don't give me this feeling.

I would not worry too much until after you see how the work. On the wolff kit , due to increased trigger pull it gave , I only ended up using the under barrel action spring , going back to NOS springs everywhere else.

Chris

Edit---Oh yes , and the firing pin spring. Use the new firing pin spring.

Ken Christie once offered to sell me replacement springs for his 30 rd mags for $7.00 each. These could be trimmed to length for 20 rd mags.

Suggest you get in touch with him.

I emailed 1022central about the mag spring issue and dealer discounts a week ago, they have not responded yet.
