Ike had guts as well as brains. He had another statement to read taking full responsibility if the invasion failed. Is that an original printing ? I recall that the speech was distributed to the troops along with his radio address.

We should do a roll and name all the men we know that were there.

The guys I knew that were there at HHour.

Jake Redmond Quitman, MS

John East Meridian MS

Continue if you like the idea, it feels good to write the names of the greatest generation.

God Bless our Vets.

Here is a friend I made through the American Legion.

Walter J. Grajek

29th ID 116th Infantry Regiment

Company A

June 6-8th in the hedgerows.

He is the guy on the left. Walt turned 89 in April. I asked about the 1903A3 and he stated thats what he was issued. He said he got a Garand later in the year and then an M1 Carbine. I did not know anyone landed with a bolt gun. The 29th was an activated National Guard Unit. Most of his company 91 KIA 56 WIA. I asked what they did after landing and he advised helped the Rangers that were to their right flank.
