5 Cell 20rd Usmc Marked Magazine Pouch

I have a 5 cell 20rd USMC marked Magazine Pouch.

I thought it was a Thompson Pouch when I got it.

I don't collect either Reising or Thompson stuff, but as I'm a retired Marine I have a hard time passing over any USMC marked item.

Is this a Reising Pouch, or a Thompsom Pouch, or is it a Fake? Were there USMC marked Thompson Pouches?

I've attached a picture with a tape measure on both views. If anyone needs bigger pictures, I can e-mail the unresized front & back pictures (2 meg each)

I believe that your pouch is a Reising pouch. IIRC , all '42 and USMC marked 5 cells were reising. The difference is that the Reising 20 rd mag , due to it's funneling down to the single feed right at the top , is a little longer overall than the Thompson. To allow the straps to snap closed , the band of webbing that the studs were mounted to was placed higher up . Look at the narrowness of your space there compared to the Thompson pouches in the Thompson pined canvas section.

I'm curious to know what type pouches the PD's used if any. Is there any leather Reising mag pouches?

It may be that the PD's used them for shock and awe crowd control, not gun battles and rarely fired them making

pouches unnecessary.

I've outfitted my commercial M50 with an Austrian leather M1 sling.
