  1. I bought one from a group purchase here. I received it earlier this year but still haven't found time to shoot it. I'm heading up to the range tomorrow. I'll give it a try & let you know how well it performs.
  2. I received my C drum Saturday night. I can't wait to try mine out either. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/woot.gif

  4. Well the reviews are encouraging... I'm still on the fence about buying one unless I can mount a bipod on the fore grip somewhere. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/huh.gif
  5. I never had any problems with my L drum... http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/huh.gif
  6. Well the year has passed. Is there any word on when this new drum is going to be available?
  7. I strongly advise that you update your email filters to filter out all email coming from cashette.com & gaweb.com. Also add .de (Germany) & .ru (Russia) to your active filters. I admin a small Corvette board and 99% of the spam hitting us is coming from one of those 4 addresses. Cashette.com is an anonymous email server that pays its members to accept spam. gaweb.com is another anonymous email server. Spammers aren't very bright. German & Russian email addresses for people with locations in the US are dead giveaways.
  8. Excellent pictures of a beautiful gun. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/woot.gif
  9. Bob if I ever run into you I owe you dinner. I sat back & thought, how the heck am I going to remove this drum? I decided to use the back part of a pair of gemological tweezers to push the lever upwards. But what was I going to use to get the bolt back? I don't have any fishing line.... Well I took a look at the bolt & especially the notch in it.... I then took a rubber grip screwdriver & laid it in the notch. The top of the screwdriver was easier to grip with my Palmolive hands & slowly I forced the bolt back as I raised the lever. It held! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/woot.gif I was able to depress the magazine catch & ease the drum out. Now I want to shoot it some more but the range is closed. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif Thanks for giving me a kick in the pants. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/hail.gif Chris
  10. QUOTE (Bob @ Nov 27 2006, 09:26 PM) If you don't have the dexterity to hold the actuator back with one hand/gun between the legs and the other hand pulling the drum out while depressing the mag catch...tie the actuator back with a piece of line. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif Then go out and buy a full auto 28 to avoid those problems altogether http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/woot.gif QUOTE (Bob @ Nov 27 2006, 09:26 PM)If you don't have the dexterity to hold the actuator back with one hand/gun between the legs and the other hand pulling the drum out while depressing the mag catch...tie the actuator back with a piece of line. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif Then go out and buy a full auto 28 to avoid those problems altogether http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/woot.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif I wish I could get a full auto but I live in one of the most repressive counties in NC. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/sad.gif
  11. with the new extractor installed & a few older 30 round magazines. I will have to file them because they wouldn't engage the catch. The only one that worked was the Kahr 30 round stick. When I say it worked I don't mean that I was able to fire every bullet. It jammed on every other bullet. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/mad.gif I had the L drum with me & decided to give that a try. It worked flawlessly! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif I shot the whole drum & shredded a target. Then when I tried to remove the drum I realized that the third hand wasn't in the range bag. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/sad.gif So as of right now the drum is still firmly in place on the gun as it seems I have lost the third hand. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/soapbox.gif Can anyone give me a recommendation as to a possible way to remove the drum?
  12. You can put me down for 1 C drum as well. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/woot.gif When my shop called Kahr to order my extractor Kahr told them that they could ship my L drum back to them & that they would upgrade it to the new design. I'll give it a try & see what happens. Hopefully not http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/nutkick.gif
  13. I spoke with the folks at the gun shop a few minutes ago & it seems that the new extractor has arrived as well. Hopefully I'll be fully functional tomorrow.
  14. I just received the new rear picitanny rail from Doug Richardson for my Thompson in the mail today! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/hail.gif I just wish the folks at Kahr would get off their butts & ship me the new extractor. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/soapbox.gif
  15. I guess I'll be learning some gunsmithing skills. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/woot.gif
  16. That's a good idea. Thanks Phil! BTW the gun shop called Kahr up this morning. They are shipping out a new extractor. I really have no confidence that the new one will be any better but we will see. They also told the shop that they will exchange their old L drums for new L drums of an improved design. I don't know if that's a good thing to do or not. But I guess since I'm currently not using the drum that I'll take the plunge & send it back & see what if any improvements have been made.
  17. I can't see the parts. I'm not a member. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/sad.gif
  18. Jack, The only ammo that's been through the gun has been CCI Blazer Brass 230 gr. FMJ. How many times has your extractor failed?
  19. Well I finally got out to the range today. I had 200 rounds with me as well as the stick that came with the gun. Me & a couple friends put 150 rounds through the stick with very few jams, surprisingly. But the last jam was different than the ones proceeding it. When I opened the bolt to see what had happened there was a long thin piece of black metal in the chamber with the bullet. I pulled the bullet out then grabbed the piece of metal & looked at it. I noticed that it had come off the side of the bolt. It turned out to be the extractor. So at the 300 round mark the extractor snapped off. Is this common? Will Kahr send out a replacement, fix it themselves or give me a new Thompson? I'm taking it back to the gun shop tomorrow.
  20. The thing that most of these people fail to remember is that in times of crisis, hurricanes, civil disorder, etc..., the police will not be able to protect them & their families from people intent on robbing, raping & killing them. I expect that these people believe that they will be able to reason with this scum before they are raped & murdered. Anyone with half a brain should've surmised as much watching Hurricane Katrina & its aftermath in the Gulf Coast states. I wonder then how these people plan to defend themselves? We have too much governmental control right now. I don't want to see a time when we turn into communist Russia/China or Nazi Germany. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/sad.gif
  21. I actually thought the site was a bunch of BS till I found a link for the Thunderwear concealed holster. I just visited their site & ordered one. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif
  22. I would shoot black & white & use photoshop to show her in full color. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
  23. QUOTE (PhilOhio @ Oct 11 2006, 08:45 PM) Chris, It may take awhile to get the bugs out, but eventually... Guns that are made right, work. Most of the Kahr Thompsons seem to require considerable fussing and modification to work. Phil you may well be right. The magazine is the one that came with the gun from Kahr. When there are no jams its a pleasure to shoot. I hope that it doesn't need to be sent back & replaced, but I will do it if need be.
  24. Great advice! I'm hoping to take the gun out to the range tomorrow. Can you tell me if it needs a break in period? The people at the gun shop were telling me that I should fire 500 rounds through it before I made any modifications. Does that sound right?
