I thought the same thing, someone trying to clear a jam of some sort with a screwdriver and prying on the side. He's concerned about shooting it.

Morning everyone, A good friend of mine recently bought a 1927 A1 West Hurley. He bought this from and older gentlemans estate. He brought it over last night for me to show him how to field strip and clean it. After taking it apart, it looked like it was fired but never cleaned, it was filthy. There is some chipping in the ejection area. He is concerned about this. Was wondering what everyone's thoughts or remedies would be. I think the area could be smoothed out by a smith. Thanks for any help. Attached are pics of the area in question.

Forgot to mention my extractor popped off and jammed my bolt just as you described.

I had almost the exact same issue. My extractor seemed like it had a bulge in it as well and felt loose on the bolt. I bought a new extractor from KHAR and it fit tight in the bolt (no bulge or wiggle). (Knock on wood) so far so good. Hope this helps.

I know this has been discussed already but some of my questions were not answered in doing my search. So here it goes. I am going to try the mag catch mod on my own. So here are my concerns 1). Does the weapon need to be field stripped to move the pivot plate? 2). When moving the pivot plate, does it come all the way out of the weapon or do you just move it enough so the protruding pins on the safety side are flush with the receiver frame, or does the entire trigger mechanism need to be removed from the weapon? (I hope not) 3). When removing the mag catch itself, does it spin towards the front of the weapon or the rear? 4). When reinstalling the catch, does a new spring need to be installed or can the original one be used? 5). Does the spring need to be compressed or will it compress when it the catch starts to be reinserted? Thank you in advance. I want to do the mod, I don't want to ruin my mags especially my 20 rounders.

Does anyone have a copy of the semi book that they would want to part with?

I've never heard any good things about them.

Hello, Always loved the Thompson and I'm finally going to take the leap and get a SA 1927A-1. Don't have funds now, (if ever) to get a full auto. Anyway here goes.... Been reading alot and a little confused, are West Hurley models better or worse than ones made after KHAR got into the game? Can a detachable stock be installed on a model with a non-removable stock? If so is it as simple as taking the non-removable stock off and just sliding the detachable stock on or does the lower need machined for that to happen? What original parts will fit? Extractors, stocks, Lyman sights, etc.??? Any help would be great, thanks and have a great day.
