  1. I did not need to know about the 14 1/2 in .44-40...now I am gonna be watching for one to go with my Bisley...this is gonna be expensive....
  2. Thank you on this information about Dan's selector! The third hand is the major reason I traded off a drum capable Tommy! Now I will be on the lookout again for one and know where iit will head immediately on getting it! How much does the job cost?
  3. Man, those professional violin cases are gorgeous! Once I move out of this communist state, I will get my M1 SBR'd. Then the stuff you guys have accomplished will be used in my planning.
  4. Thank you all for your help. Richard, I made the mistake of looking at your parts kits.....you have Galils....I am in SO much trouble...
  5. Imposing? Definitely. Mine is one of the batch they made from leftovers in 1933, cleaned up beautifully.
  6. Congrats on a great find! Just picked up a 1933 built New Service in .45ACP myself.
  7. G'pune, check out guitar cases, they are more heavily constructed than violin cases.
  8. Hi, I want to SBR my 16" Tommy eventually. However, we will be retiring in a year and a half. SBRs are legal in both states, so I could start here, try to get it done before we move, then I would need to transfer it to the new state. Or would it be smarter to just wait until the move and then do it all once moved?
  9. Thanks Old Trooper! I might still try to find one to evaluate, but unless I fall in love with it, doubt I would buy one.
  10. Thanks folks, I run the website for Zoot Shooting and do reviews on different guns for them. I have been asked about the MP40 replica and have not handled one. Anyone here own one and/or shot one of the beasties? Any information is gladly wanted!
  11. I would recommend modifying the mag catch. Mine uses the modified mags and I was able to swap some originals for modified mags so I came out ahead. As I have about a dozen now, I will continue to use the modified ones. But if I were looking at one like yours and was just starting, the mag release mod would make more sense financially.
  12. Well, the gun ran fine with both 230 Grain WWB ball ammo and cast handloads. The spring kit is definitely smoother and easier to operate. Seems to me the buffer pad would be a boon to the alloy receiver guns as well. Much like a Shock-buf pad in an alloy frame Commander.
  13. Let me invite you both to check out this site: http://www.zootshooters.com/ Like SASS but we use Prohibition Era guns.
  14. Got one of the kits from Howell yesterday and stuck it in my AO M1 today. Springs are almost identical in length and it fit perfectly. I do like the buffer pad. My M1 is well broken in and the new kit does seem a bit lighter.Plan to hit the range tomorrow and see if it is still as reliable.
  15. Go with the shorter barrel, it looks awfully good as is. Then, later, if you do or do not SBR you will still like the looks.
