My Colt is finally approved

I would have to see first if I could fit into one of Dillinger's outfits. Then make a fast getaway! Seriously, that picture is just way too cool. I love it! -
.22 Thompson Full Auto Video
Dolphinvet replied to deerslayer's topic in Thompson Submachine Gun Message Board
Do a belt fed conversion on your 16 and link together 2014 rounds on a continuous burst Now THAT would be cool! Strike that, it would be HOT, really really hot, like melt the barrel type of hot! -

You should have had her dress in the attire from the day, that would really have been a nice picture! I really want to see that car one day. It's beautiful. -
Colt 1921 AC for sale on Sturm
Dolphinvet replied to DLansky's topic in Thompson Submachine Gun Message Board
I saw that a bit ago too. A pity they ravaged the stock and pistol grip so badly. Gun looks nice though, with all the accessories, might be ok. Still pricey. -

Does it matter if this is a 1928 or an M1? See the left side of my M1 AOC Bridgeport Thompson. http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j331/Dolphinvet/DSCN1000.jpeg -

I'm envious. You got the real material. Kind of like holding the actual Declaration of Independence in your hands. That's REAL history. -

Aired Out Tommy's Lungs
Dolphinvet replied to rader's topic in Thompson Submachine Gun Message Board
I can't shoot on New Years eve because I work when everyone else is closed. I actually had a couple clients last night around midnight so I didn't even get to see the ball drop. Besides, opening up the door to my clinic and letting loose with a burst in the city might invite an inquiry from our local PD. -

25 L drums!? Damn, how many you want to carry at a time? I have 3 L drums and I'm thinking I might need 2 more, at most. -
What price are they looking for? I wouldn't mind having a '28 shooter. I already have an M1 shooter. The better one of the 2 is still pretty rough looking. It would have to be at a good price considering the condition. Thanks, Jim (Dolphinvet)

Can we Modify a 1928 Navy Overstamp Actuator

Can we Modify a 1928 Navy Overstamp Actuator
Dolphinvet replied to OCM's topic in Thompson Submachine Gun Message Board
After looking at both actuators, I think I understand it. The hollow portion of the bolt on the 21 is meant to take up the space of the buffer and spring assembly, and with the 28, with the extra metal inside the bolt assembly from the actuator, it takes a smaller buffer pilot and spring assembly due to the smaller space. The added metal in the 28 actuator provides more resistance during the firing cycle, and slows the guns rate down, because there is more mass to move. Removing the metal in a 28 actuator will lighten the load the gun has to overcome to cycle, thus speeding up the RPM. However, you will have to use the 21 buffer assembly because of the added space in the bolt itself. It all makes sense to me now. Here's the thing though. Why replace anything on my 21 except the actuator with an aftermarket one that PK could make, perhaps a 28 lower assembly, the spring, and a barrel? I can't see a buffer and buffer pilot plus the spring becoming damaged during firing. The spring is a wear part just due to the cycling operation, but the rest of the assembly in the upper looks pretty darn sturdy. I mean, can a bolt break on a 21 during normal usage? -

Dolphinvet replied to OCM's topic in Thompson Submachine Gun Message Board
There are a couple of 21 springs listed on gunbroker, and a buffer is listed for 300. You would need to obtain the buffer pilot too. Does PK make 21 barrels? The barrel is what I'm scared of damaging. -

A bandsaw cut might work perhaps? -
All the machine guns have gone up in price in the past 2 years considerably, especially the popular guns that you can modify like the M16 and MAC's. I bought a MAC10/45 just about 2 years ago with suppressor and a few magazines for 2,900. Now that same gun with no suppressor and one mag will sell for between 4 and 5 thousand. Uzi's have gone way up in price, so have the M16. Thompsons have as well but not as much as a modifiable gun that someone will shoot all day long, at least that's what I see. I have an MK760 that I bought for 3,900 several years ago and it's barely budged upward in price. My MAC's have went up nearly double. I agree I think the net has done a lot to popularize these weapons and more people are wanting them, thus the price increase. It doesn't help that we have a Marxist president who would take everything away if he could, people are buying just in case the sky falls and they can't be had anymore. There may be fluctuations up and down in prices and if there is another big recession the prices will go flat or down, probably.

Animals are expensive, not as much as Thompsons (exceptions exist though) but yes. I probably have more ammo than I need, but how much is too much? Tommy guns (and MAC's too) are hungry beasts! -

Actually those machines that go "ping" (actually "beep") are the ones that made the purchase of my 21AC possible. You should see my surgery suite if you really want to see machines that go "ping"! They cost more than the Thompson! Oh, CptCurl, I reload a lot of ammo. I have around 10,000 rounds of .45acp sitting around so yes I've plenty of food for the Thompsons! I'm probably one of the very few veterinary clinics that have machine guns in the office. And reloading equipment, tons of ammo, AR's, silencers, etc. etc. -

The etched number below the serial number I believe was the inventory number from Seattle PD. See the attached pictures. Too bad the Atlanta guns were not so subtle in their inventory numbering. http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j331/Dolphinvet/IMG_0785.jpghttp://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j331/Dolphinvet/IMG_0784.jpghttp://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j331/Dolphinvet/IMG_0783.jpg -

Ok, finally had a few minutes today at my clinic and took some photos. Let me know what else you'd like to see. http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j331/Dolphinvet/20131223_233359.jpghttp://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j331/Dolphinvet/20131223_233346.jpghttp://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j331/Dolphinvet/20131223_233238.jpghttp://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j331/Dolphinvet/20131223_233142.jpghttp://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j331/Dolphinvet/20131223_233123.jpghttp://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j331/Dolphinvet/20131223_232832.jpghttp://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j331/Dolphinvet/20131223_232651.jpghttp://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j331/Dolphinvet/20131223_233010.jpg -
You are right, I never do hear scumbag politicians whining about full auto. I hear scumbag reporters telling the general public that semi-auto Ar-15's and semi-auto AK-47's are full autos, and should be made illegal. We are fortunate that an opportunist like Obama has not tried to find a way to make the NFA weapons banned outright. You know he wants to take away our rights wholesale. He just hasn't found a way to do it. The 2014 elections could be a wonderful thing or a terrible thing for us, depending upon the outcome.

AO 1928A1 on GB
Dolphinvet replied to Devil Dog 1110's topic in Thompson Submachine Gun Message Board
I plan on taking it back to the dark blue finish. It's a great shooter though. I'm really not into pimped out guns though several on here have voiced their opinions to keep it as is. I only paid 12k for it this year (as you know I just got it), and that's not "too" bad considering what people are paying nowadays for these things. I admit someone must have went nuts with a buffing wheel and then put the nickel plate on, but I'll take it. Jim B (Dolphinvet) -

Here's a few of the nose section of my M1. My M1 Thompson has the same sharp angle. Is this the same in the M1 as the 1928? Curious because I'm told my gun was original, though it's nickel plated. -
