  1. I don't know if it's a real Colt one. Just an FYI if any one want's to contact seller. 490343611
  2. After watching Thompson prices for well over a year. It's not surprising to see them priced that high. Make an offer you feel is fair and see what they say.
  3. I believe that is a 9mm conversion unit. Meant for British use. Randall Besseler had one for sale a while back. Looked just like it.
  4. Ruben has 2 Colts listed. Details Details He also has a 19281a sample gun listed twice on his web site. Once at $14,995. And again at $13,995. so if you want it. Click on the lower price;)
  5. Don't really know what a fair price is. But they have been sitting for months on GB at 20k+. Spiwak has some listed as sold in the 15k to 16k range. Might check and see What Ruben has them listed for. Keep in mind that his prices will be high retail. Has the seller mentioned any price?
  6. I don't know the seller. But he has a good reputation on other boards. I don't mean at all to disparage him. However; I have looked at some of the "excellent " condition Thompsons he has had for sale, and asked for more photos. Each time the photos showed much pitting. And other condition issues. They have been what I would call shooter condition. So always ask for more and detailed photos. And post them here. I know I was probably "that guy" to some members. But, with the money you have to put up for a nice gun now, get all the opinions you can. Also spend a lot of time doing searches on this forum. The information here is astounding.
  7. This is a great book on the early history of the Military Service Thompsons. It is truly amazing seeing the numbers in print. Tom has done a fantastic job bringing this information to light. It will be valued addition to your Thompson library.
  8. Great photos. It's good to see real historical photos like this. If anyone has access to their fathers old military photos, get copies made now. I had always loved looking at my fathers photos from his time in the Navy in WWII. There were photos of him with Thompsons and a BAR. Many years ago he had a tumor in his brain. He went thru severe emotional distress. Unknown to my mother, he had thrown away all his military photos, when he was depressed. When she discovered what had happened and asked about it, he just said "no one want's to see that old stuff anymore". So if you have the chance to take possession of, or copy old family photos. Do it now.
  9. Thanks. I'll check with him when he's doing better.
  10. Didn't want to bother Merle right now, with his injury. But are his kits and drums available?
  11. Vince what did you end of buying? 1928 Savage PD gun What would you pay for this Savage?
  12. That would be very hard to have and not be able to shoot. At least you can have it. If you don't mind. What kind of money do they sell for? I'm sure not what they go for here.
  13. A lot of the REWATs that I have looked at, were priced right about the same as everything else. Are they worth the same? I don't know, but I didn't pay the price for them. Just being transferable, will bring the price up. But you will have to make that final decision. It's tough, I know. I went thru the same things that you are going thru. Just keep looking for the gun you really want. You will be much happier.
  14. I believe all the Evansville repack ammo is steel case. All mine is. Good display ammo.
  15. I've got some vintage steel case .45. I know lots of it was shot thru Thompsons. But there will be no steel case ammo thru my 1928.
  16. Thanks for the heads up! Palmetto has S&B for 14.99 a box now.
  17. TD has some great advise. I looked for over a year. I knew what I really wanted was a Savage 1928 or 28A1. Finned barrel adjustable sights. I looked at several guns. Posted many photos. Talked to a great board member, who kept saying not to settle for something close. The right gun will come along. Glad I listened. The right one came along and I couldn't be happier. The hunt is part of the fun! Thanks TD!!
