  1. Hello.. I had the same problem with mine.. I had binding in the trigger because one of the parts was bent. I found it by using a mirror. I'm not entirely sure without seeing it but the knob can easily move in and out if I remember and lock. It's been awhile since I had it out for a movie shoot put pics would also help.. David
  2. Agreed Mike.. Once I have my 38 and 40 completed I'll be looking before I drop a project or two to build them. I do recall at least one outfit making them along with MG34/42 boxes as well..
  3. Thanks Roscoe.. I'll post pics of the one my friend made thanks to his article. Placing an order for more MP40 parts too.. Awesome fellow! He also has a great one on the Layfette tripods too..
  4. If repro is okay there's the guy in Lithuania making a lot of parts.. His tube is par excellant! I'm hoping he can make me a mag well since those aren't easy to come by and the 40 won't fit...
  5. I'm contemplating getting a small run of these machined for both the 38 and the 40. This is the part that attaches directly to the receiver. Trying to gauge interest level beyond the 6 I'm making for myself and friend... If they already exist out there somewhere I'm all ears! Cheers...
  6. My new case hasn't arrived so I can't comment on that one yet.. My previous one did have ample room though the hook style bolt handle poked a hole through the canvas. I'll let you know how my American made bag compares to the Chinese one used previously. I also agree if my SMG was a pain to remove and reinstall the sling each time I'd avoid using it as well...
  7. For mine.. The armorer that sold them to me said take a flapper wheel. All of mine are heavily painted. The flapper helped but the belt sander did the trick.. Just tried to keep it even and trial fit as I went until they worked like the originals... Im bluing them instead of repaint. I may park a few when I finish my tube for my BNZ 44
  8. Depends on how difficult it is to remove the pin in the base... On mine, one is easy and the other is staked at both ends... I've read elsewhere that these weren't meant to be repaired or little consideration was given during assembly to their potential maintenance. Once you get the pin out just be observant with orientation of the bushing for reassembly. I had an early non gun in the 70s you could completely take apart like the real thing...
  9. My only issue is vertical play in my stock.I think you're on the right track with that... I have a new parts for my BNZ 44 with the same issue en-route...
  10. That's interesting.. I had a SS room MP40 and with an original sling fit the case just fine. I want to build a few wooden boxes for my latest. What issues are you having with your SMG? I've built and restored MPs G43s and Lugers etc. for years just like my classic cars.. I may be able to help...
  11. Excellent... As for slings, I had a couple of post war Austrians for years and lost them during a move.. I'm in the same boat.. I've purchased a couple of different ones and I'll let you know how these do after they arrive. Building two kits right now... I haven't had one for a few years now. I helped a friend build his a few months back and got the bug again! LOL
  12. Congrats Dan! Beautiful.. Yes I noticed that MP41 straight away. Haenel even includes the patent on the weapon as well... I believe you can lessen the play in the stock by replacing the bushing inside the piviot. My 44 does the same so I'm waiting for the new bushing and ideally it will be in better shape than the original.
  13. Agreed... I have 6 and after a little more refinement I'll blue the tops and off to my next battle I will go.. I bought a dozen originals for 25 each 12 years ago and had no idea they'd climbed so much in price!
