  1. Just curious if anyone has seen or tried one of these before. Looks relatively new, ,~1 year old. https://www.griffinarmament.com/1-375x24-cutts-compensator-mount-for-the-bushwhacker-46/
  2. Geez Dan, getting too bored with all your MG's you need to up the excitement? Also, I didn't think .45 will set off Tannerite...
  3. If you didn't mind a newer reproduction case - which would be more robust than an actual vintage violin case - I've had my eye on something like this. I believe it was made by ThugCase for a suppressed Thompson, but they don't show this particular model on their website. I can't speak to what it's like to do business with this company, so I'd be curious to hear from anyone who has. At any rate, this might give you an idea how to fit the firearm and all its accessories if you make a case of your own.
  4. Hi Dan! A few questions: What time does this start/end?What is the address? Are gloves/face masks required/suggested?Any idea of entry fee, or approx price to shoot?
  5. I didn't think you could have a vertical grip on a pistol, so might want to trade that for a horizontal one instead to keep this from being an AOW. And I'd at least change out the "cheese grater" charging handle. Other than that, it looks pretty nice.
  6. Having a .45 can I've thought about doing the exact same thing with a Cutts as a thread protector. In the end, I went with historical accuracy. I would still like to get a violin case though. This site (http://shop.thugcase.com/MODEL-THOMPSON-SMG-MODELSMG.htm) has made custom cases for Thompsons (with or without space for a can).
  7. I'm sure they just used computers to add the muzzle flash...which, if I were in such a movie, would be very disappointing to not actually get to shoot the dang thing. Maybe the armorers found a way to adapt an Uzi top cover to a 21
  8. Bonnie's got herself a modified Thompson...fires from a closed, non-reciprocating bolt
  9. This isn't technically Thompson related, so feel free to move this to another forum as needed. I just hope that other people might find it helpful. I recently moved from one city to another within the same county of the same state, and I took my 1927A1 SBR (and .45 suppressor) with me. Prior to moving, I found conflicting information online regarding what kind of permission/notification is required by/to the ATF for an *intrastate* address change, ranging from doing nothing at all, to submitting form 5320.20 prior to moving, to submitting this form after the items have already been moved. I opted to go the safest route and submit the form prior to moving the items; however, I did not know the preferred/recommended amount of time in advance to do so. On Sunday, March 17th, I filled out form 5320.20 stating that the "dates in transit" will be March 24th-25th. I then printed, signed, scanned, and emailed the form to the ATF. Today, March 25th, I received a secure email back from the ATF with the signed/approved form, dated March 24th. So it would seem that as little as one week is an acceptable amount of time in advance to submit the form and still get it approved, though I suspect they would prefer more time than that. Part of the problem is that form 5320.20 is entitled "Application to Transport Interstate or to Temporarily Export Certain NFA Firearms", yet they want you to use this form for permanent *intrastate* address changes too. Heaven forbid they create a new form just for that purpose and reduce the confusion.
  10. Happy New Year, Dan! Gotta get back out there and destroy some more watermelons with ya!
  11. The more I looked at it, the more I could get used to it, kind of a Thompson/MP5 hybrid. Not a bad option if SBR is not possible...probably makes the gun a fair amount lighter too. I didn't realize you can't put a brace on a rifle...these laws are more inane than I could've imagined.
  12. Not really a concern of mine being that I have an SBR, but some people may be interested to know these are out there. Cheaper than a tax stamp, but I wonder how many rounds you could put through the pistol with this thing before it broke: https://customsmithmfg.com/shop?olsPage=products%2Fthompson-pistol-tailhook-host Not sure who makes this one...it seems more robust, but I can't tell how it is secured to the lower: http://midwestgundealer.com/index.php/listings/550-2/?id=3260
  13. I posted about Vol 1 a while back, but it seems to have disappeared. It's still available for sale on Amazon and Etsy. Vol 2 is on Kickstarter right now. There are some pretty good rewards, including the chance to be a character in the story!
  14. Good luck in your search, took me a while to get one myself...supplies are dwindling and prices are climbing. Seems no one is machining new ones besides Kahr...they could make a nice chunk of change selling them separately (along with removable stock hardware), being that they predominantly sell that farby 28 upper/M1 lower Frankengun...
  15. If they reevaluate anything, it should be to do away with the SBR (and SBS) classification entirely. It's an outdated law used to prevent people from hiding shotguns and rifles under the trench coats worn in the '20's and '30's. When AR pistols came about, the ATF should have have either considered them SBR's or gotten rid of such a classification...stocked (or braced) or not, they are concealable, high-powered firearms, which is what the law was supposed to restrict...
  16. Sorry to say, it may actually be more accurate with the stock being in line with the bolt, rather than underneath. I suspect they came up with the AR stock adapter with eventual plans to release a "pistol" version of this, where you could attach a Shockwave Blade or SB Tactical brace. That being said, I do wish they'd stick to the classic models...and make sure they actually work.
  17. To my knowledge, you can't convert a pistol/rifle/shotgun into a "firearm" as the Reformation is; it would have to be built that way from the factory. So someone (most likely Kahr, unfortunately) could possibly make similar barrels. Depending on how much they would mark up such a firearm, it would likely be cheaper to get the stamp anyway. I still can't believe they got away with that binary firing system where the pull and release of the trigger is considered two separate actions. I fear this poking of holes in the wording is just going to make the ATF say "You're taking this much too literally...so no more binary trigger, no more AR pistols, etc., etc." because they are tired of dealing with the semantics of this stuff.
  18. Screenshot from the 1996 James Bond spoof "Spy Hard" starring Leslie Nielsen.
  19. They'd probably have better luck just selling the threaded barrel (and modified front sight, if needed) rather than a 2-stamp package. Wonder why they went with 5/8×24 threads though instead of .578×28. Also, missed opportunity to have a thread protector that looks like a compensator.
  20. If you're gonna modify the design of the foregrips anyway, may as well go with one grip that can be horizontal or flip down to be vertical and not mess around with changing them back and forth.
  21. Very nice, looks similar to the work Dan did on my SBR. I didn't do the 1/2" gripmount...not sure if I'll ever cave and do that.
  22. I pre-ordered this graphic novel in April 2016 and finally got it yesterday...and I thought the wait for my Form 1 SBR was bad! Pretty good read...a few anachronisms with the guns themselves though, most notably the long barrel on the cover. https://www.dancooneyart.com/the-tommy-gun-dolls
