  1. This M1 has a fixed firing pin. I think that is correct for the model but not sure. I believe it to be original GI M1 with RIA re-arsenal stamp but not changed into M1A. It has a barrel band. I'm not sure about the mags.
  2. This happens with several different brands of ammo and reloads. I do not think it's ammo related. I have five Seymore 20 round mags and 3 - thirty round mags. It happens with all of the mags. I'm thinking a recoil spring replacement is the first step. Where do I get one?
  3. They tell me that mine was "received" July 15. Is that the same as when it "went pending"? Anyways, I'm still waiting.
  4. My new to me M1 is having malfuntions about 20% of the time when loading a new mag. What recommendations do you all have? It strips a round from the mag and then doesn't detonate the primer. Gives it a small dimple and that's it. This seems to happen more frequently with a full mag as opposed to a partially loaded mag. Usually, once it gets going it will eat the entire mag but it's just the first round usually. It seems like too much of the forward inertia of the bolt is being siphoned off by excess mag tension. I am guessing that I should try replacing the recoil spring. Where is a good place to order a recoil spring? Is there a difference between the M1, M1A and other models? Anything else I should order to replace while I'm at it? Any other suggestions? This happens with several different brands of ammo and reloads. I do not think it's ammo related.

  6. At the Knob Creek show April 2017 there was a dealer set up in the middle isle who had a 1919 and a M37, both on form 4. Does anyone know who the dealer was? Or alternatively, I'm interested in buying a 1919 or M37.
  7. Yes, always by the book. I may also try some Hodgden Universal because I have so much of it. Anyone have experience with small primer pocket brass? The firing pin on this M1 is about as big as the small primer so wondering if that could cause issues.
  8. What reloading recipes do you use for the Thompson? I plan to try some 230 gr. coated bullets from ACME Bullet Co with some Win. 231. Has anyone tried this combo? Do the Thompsons prefer a hot load or will middle of the road cycle sufficiently?
  9. Thanks for all the comments and suggestions. Did not get chance to test fire it. Just bought it so we'll see how it does it a few months. Anyone know how long transfers are taking for approval now?
  10. How does this info affect value? Gentleman's story is that it was bought from an auction in 1988. Paperwork says AO as manufacturer and transferred to current owner in 1988. Does this make it's value more around 12k maybe?
  11. The "dirt in the corner by the breach" is that the smudging spattering on the right side in front of magwell? Does that mean that part was dirty right there when reparked? I also see sligjt discoloration behind magwell about at the end of charging handle channel that goes all the way around receiver.
  12. Let me know if you think that is a reweld mark and if the rear sight is bent. If it is bent is that a big deal? If it's a reweld is that a good or bad one. What's a fair value for the thing? New guy here so any help is appreciated.
  13. Pics here <iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://s1083.photobucket.com/user/AndrewKingGailor/embed/slideshow/Tommy"></iframe>
  14. Just looked at it further. Looks in good condition but I suspect reweld from possible marks around magwell area. Ill post some pics in a few. If reweld how much does that affect the value? No SS# on the lower.
  15. Looking at an AO Bridgeport M1 with a ss#33*,***, RIA proof mark, flaming pot mark, and a barrel band. Would Rock Island have rearsenaled these? Whats up with a barrel band on it? Could that be legitimate or does that make it suspect to being a reweld or something less desirable? Metal fnish looks too nice but wood looks appropriately used. What would this be worth? 20k? Does NFA paperwork list if it is C&R or no? Just says Auto Ordnance I think. Im new at this so appreciate any insight.
